Comment:

Shes fun, blunt and straight forward. Her assignments are easy to complete if you have a creative mind and she doesnt require that you write like Edgar Allen Poe. She gets a little personal sometimes but thats her own way of caring for the students. Ultimately, shes one of teachers I would take over again!

Comment:

This class changed my life honestly. Professor Goodman is amazing. Her poetry workshop is all about expressing your feelings and how to convey them in your writing, and to make others feel it too. It does feel like a therapy session but I think that's a good thing. I feel like I wrote some of the most important poetry during her class. TAKE HER!!!

Goodman is a kind & quirky professor. Her class isn't structured. Show up and see what happens. She creates a safe space to share your writing & that is her strength. Her feedback is based more on the subject you share than your writing skills. I recommend her if you're looking for an easy "A", not if your looking to grow your writing skills.

This was the first poetry class that I have ever taken and it made me love to write creatively through open poetry. She gives great feedback and the class was always fun! I really recommend taking this class with her. Professor Goodman is very charismatic.

She the hippie grandma you've always wanted. She tends to ramble in class, but she cares. She tends to force her ideals on certain things. Be open minded. It's like a group therapy session. Did my writing improve? No. Which bummed me out.

THE BEST PROFESSOR HUNTER HAS TO OFFER. This class is all about taping into you feelings and putting them out on paper. if you're looking to become a great writer TAKE HER. she will make you find things out about yourself that you never even knew. no exaggeration when i say THE BEST TEACHER HUNTER HAS TO OFFER. make sure you play no games.

She taught me that feelings and emotions are important in my writing. If you take her you will have to be open mind. Her teaching style is different . She is not a Professor who primarily focuses on academics. She allowed the class to have open discussions and express their opinions on different topics in their writing.

Prof. Goodman is such an inspiration, she allows her students to develop a sense of self and become more in touch with their emotions and allow that to shine through our writings. She creates a safe space for expression and self awareness. This class is not for someone cant be open minded.

This was my first creative writing course and I do wonder if I had had someone else would I have been so inspired to continue. She does have a tendency to ramble, but she's a writer, that's what they do! Haha. I loved this class and I have to say Melinda was the real reason why. She's amazing. Beware YOU MUST BE OPEN MINDED.

Almost EVERYTHING you see here is 100%. She likes to dance and have fun and makes the room comfy. The first week or so you may feel a bit overwhelmed because it can get DARK. She wants you to pour your deepest secrets out in front of 14 strangers and it's TERRIFYING at first, but tough it out, it's so relieving. I made life long friends in here.

Hmm.. maybe Goodman's angle at teaching is to leave students with their own source of therapy and enlightenment. So far I love her! I think I trust her and admire her more than any other professor. She really is her own person and that inspires finding your own voice. Interested in growing from her future feedback! She is thoughtful and inclusive!

Professor Goodman is an extremely caring person. Her classes were very engaging and to some extent inspire you to write more. She was an easy grader. Do your work and you will do good. The only thing that bothered me that some students in the class were too personal and the class becomes feeling like a "group therapy session".

Professor Goodman is the best professor at Hunter College! She is amazing and genuinely a great person! Can't forget about how funny she is and her good sense of humor! I enjoyed being in her class & she really inspired me to be more creative with my writings! Take her she's awesome!

Legitimately the best professor I've ever had. I would take any class taught by her. I have never truly been inspired as a write more than in this class. She was the first professor to give me actual critique on my work instead of just dismissing it by saying it's good- which is all I've ever wanted in a professor. 3

To do well you have to write, daily. She gives good feedback and insight on how to better you writing. She talks about her experiences in hopes of it helping you open up more since your writing will focus on your personal experiences. Super funny and approachable. She's nice but not a push over.

She's such a kind soul. For a creative writing class, it was great. She is so understanding and has so much life experience that you get lost in her stories sometimes. Her grading is pretty lenient because she inspires you to write from deep within. Would definitely take again.

She's amazing. This is a class that everyone not just writers should take. She really cares about her students and their progress. She does ramble a lot but it's entertaining. Many times there's a gem in those ramblings. I'd definitely take her again. If you plan on missing classes, don't take the class. Attendance is really important to her.

Professor Goodman is such a hoot haha. Really, she is just amazing. She may ramble and go off on tangents, but it just makes the class more welcoming. Everyone in class just opened up. It was a course I didn't think I had needed so badly. Really, really improved me as a writer.
