Comment:

Easily one of the most enthusiastic and helpful teachers in the Bio department. He's accessible and answers his emails relatively fast. Hands out many quizzes which help your grade out provided you study. Also engages his students a lot; very interactive. His tests contain a lot of info but if you do well on the quizzes and study you should be fine

dr. simpson taught the first block of 204. he is very nice and enthusiastic about the lecture. study his study questions for the quizzes and you'll do fine. his test is not tricky but you literally have to know all of the study questions! put in the effort and you'll get an A! best professor of 204 block lectures :)

I'm not naturally smart, but I got an A without paying attention in lecture or reading the book. Make sure you do well on the quizzes! And study study questions & the ppts! it may help to draw out cladograms and write on them to study for the exam since there's so much info to memorize. the exam is matching/definition and isn't too difficult also!

Hands down the best professor I ever had at SDSU. Don't miss taking a class with him if you're a Biology major and have even the slightest interest in plants/botany. I've lived in San Diego my whole life and never really appreciated the beauty of our county's flora until I took this class. We only love what we understand.

He knows how to teach. Honestly. Most lecturers I'd die of boredom, but somehow, he just knows how to click everyone's attention. Class is easy. Study, you'll do fine. But Simpson, I wish I had him as a lecturer for all my classes.

I don't know how everyone says "if you go to class and go over iQuizzes you will do fine" because I did just so, and did the study guides and did not do well on my exam. Maybe I'm just stupid, but don't take this very lightly, and keep in mind the test will not be easy like the in class quizzes(which were a piece of cake). Cool professor though.

AMAZING!!! 1 in class quiz & iQuiz every week..... super easy, straight off the study guide for that week. Answers for study guide easily found off the slides. Tests are easy as well if you study the study guides. Very cool field trips!! One was to a brewery :) and yes you get to drink beer!

I took about 3 of his classes and professor Simpson is wonderful!!!The best teacher ever. He is so nice and i have never seen him angry. He is always so happy. He made botany so interesting that i took another botany class( Ace both of them)He is easy, only if you study what he gives you. Have fun and enjoy b/c a professor like him is hard to find.

Simpson was a really awesome teacher. He s super interested in plants and cracks jokes all the time. The subject matter is kind of boring but he made it easier to go to class every day. He is very personable and is willing to help anytime. Great teacher! I would recommend him to anyone

Awesome professor!!! He is definitely the best out of the three and makes plants interesting. Nice guy and is very helpful if you need him. Tests are what you learn in lectures. It seems like a lot of material thrown at you all at once but its not. The other teachers are horrible so do well in his portion to make up for that!

Great professor who genuinly enjoys teaching and helping out the students. Material can seem duanting but he will really help you effectively learn and do well in the course. You pretty much would have to be absent frequently to get lower than a B. Also one of the few courses that is highly practical for the non-molecular centered bio field

Comment:

Best teacher at SDSU. Plain and simple. All material available online, constant email updates, and straight forward expectations. He never makes you feel dumb or is ever "not on your side." A LOT of material to learn, BUT at least he tests you on ALL the material he tells you to learn. Super fun field trips and 'edible' labs. A great senior class.

Really cool, and funny at times. Its a very fun class. The field trips are cool. I like the brewery trip because you get to go beer tasting. Everything seems easy, but no. His exams are very detailed. Take this class if you have an excellent memory because its packed with mucho mucho information.

Greatest Bio prof ever at SDSU! His expectations are so clear, he wants you to excel and helps as much as possible. Weekly quiz and iquiz are annoying but really help in the long run. You have to put effort into study time, but learn lots of interesting facts. I didn't think I was going to enjoy the class, but it ended up being my favorite.
