Comment:
The slides are a little vague. The TA's provide excellent explanations of what is needed for the assignments, essentially laying out exactly what needs to be done. Marking is very fair. I really see the course being useful in my future career.

Comment:
He is not well prepared for class and the TAs he has mark the midterms and assignments very hard. His slides are never complete or in colour even though colour is needed to understand them and he often doesn't provide the proper slides. Little/No explaination or guidance is provided for the assignments and the project topics are impossible.

Comment:
His lecturing skills are not good. His lecture notes weren't always complete/good quality (blank slides, poor image quality). The lectures and the labs didn't match up at all. He wasn't very approachable. The labs were time consuming, def go to the tutorials and work on the labs there s you can ask questions. Hard midterms and final.

Comment:
One of the most frustrating courses I've taken at McMaster University. The lectures were out of step with the labs at the end. No textbook. Skeleton notes did not always match his slides. The course needs to be re-organised with a good textbook or courseware and a different professor for this task.

Do not take this course unless it is mandatory! The course listing is really deceiving.Boring material, unapproachable prof, hard concepts, irrelevant calculations, hard marking. Assignments are not well explained at all and require A LOT of prior knowledge. Final was killer, not one person left without complaint! worst course at mac, AVOID taking!

Prof didn't seem approachable at all. Assignments were very poorly explained, kind of pointless too. Tests are not too bad, fair. Marking was extremely hard. Material was interesting for the most part. A textbook would have been useful. Slides not complete.

Comment:
Exceptionally intelligent prof, has good tone and keeps people engaged in class. Lectures are actually quite interesting. If he posts notes, they aren't the best - but his reasoning was to entice us to come to class. His tests are pretty hard, along with the assignments, but just such a good lecturer, makes the course material pretty interesting.

Fairly good prof and lecturer. He DID post notes online and his pacing of the material was appropriate. tests and exam were also fair for the most part. the only complaint i have about the course was the group project. it was extremely confusing and poorly explained. otherwise, pretty good

Comment:
Uncooperative and refused to answer questions, also refused to post many lecture notes online, yet there was no textbook to clarify topics. Incredibly slow pacing, especially for completely irrelevant anecdotes. Test questions too broad, like "Give evidence of climate change." Disrespectful to students who were just trying to understand him.

Interesting class, but not very organized. I also didn't find him very approachable. We had a good TA though, and that really helped.

Broad-based, objective introduction to the science of climate change and its potential interactions with ecosystems. Challenging to teach because the science and policy are evolving so rapidly. Prof presented leading edge research and highlighted future directions for scientific inquiry. Enthusiastic prof, helpful with assignments and questions.

Wonderful introduction to the scientific approach on climate change. encouraged students to form their own opinions, based on these scientific findings. tolerated differences in opinion and was concerned with the quality of this course. Fair marker, and makes sure that you know what his expectations are.

This class had such great potential...unfortunately it was taught by a peat-loving, one-sided, narrow-minded prof... dont take this course unless you need a 2 hour nap!
