Professor Arana is incredibly caring and personally gets to know her students. I got As on the exams without course packets, just take notes and listen to the tracks. There are 2 or 3 short papers an 4 tests, but no other homework. I really enjoyed the contra dance!

The class is super easy and Prof Arana is very nice, but I found lectures to be very boring. If you do the work and pay a little bit of attention during class you should be absolutely fine. You have to go to some concerts and a contra dance, but that is pretty standard for similar gen-ed classes. Bonus for being an upper-division.

Super easy gen-ed. You are required to do some extracurricular stuff, but it isn't too bad. Miranda is super sweet and will do whatever it takes to help you succeed in her class. Would definitely take again <3

This is the best non-western culture class to take! Professor Arana shows up to each class with enthusiasm and cares about her students. As long as you follow her grading guidelines for the papers and study for the exams (be sure to listen to music, take good notes, and read the course packet), you will do just fine. You can learn a lot from her!

You need to do the readings for the tests, but they are not too bad and the book is cheap. Do not underestimate the tests. They are easy but you need to review your notes and listen to the music. Miranda is wonderful and really understanding if you need anything. With minimal effort this class is an easy A even without a music background!

Super easy class!! Only down side is that she is a modern hippy and love a thing called contra dance and will make you dance several times in class. You also have to attend a contra dance event. It's lame because this is a music class and I hate dancing. Easy A though, and better this than a research class I guess. She's super sweet though

Miranda is the nicest/sweetest professor I've ever had. She inspires you to be interested in what she lectures about because she's clearly passionate about it. Her exams are not difficult at all and neither are the papers she assigns. If you need a NWC credit, do yourself a favor and take World Music with Miranda.

Miranda is super nice, really lenient on due dates, if you have a problem, talk to her and she will help to accommodate you! You have to attend a concert and a contra dance and write 3 page (double spaced) papers over them. Great class to take for NWC credit! Tests aren't difficult, as long as you review the readings/music and notes you'll do well!

I highly recommend this class for an extremely easy and interesting upper division non western credit. Miranda is delightful and very passionate about this subject. The material is not challenging and the tests are exactly what she puts on the study guides. One of the easiest and most enjoyable classes I have ever taken.

I loved Miranda. She was an incredibly nice lady who was super enthusiastic. There are 3 assignments in the entire semester. Go to a contra dance (think square dancing. I recommend you bring a date), go to a concert, and give a small group presentation. If you go to her classes, you should get an A. If you don't, you'll probably get a B anyway.

One of the best professors I've had so far!!Just got done with the May intersession class.2 short papers,one long one,and 4-5 tests.SUPER EASY as long as you show up,listen,and take some notes. The class was 3.5hrs/day, but we never stayed that long. You have to go to one public dance but it's a LOT of fun! FANTASTIC PROFESSOR!!! Take her class!
