Great professor, but the workload is immense. Your grade is reflective of how much time you put into mastering the concepts. I don't recommend unless your Algebra 2 is on point and you have the time to put into the work.

Comment:

Dr. Lewin is a phenomenal teacher for people like me, who grew up with a strong humanities background and only a moderate acclimation to quantitative thinking. It hardly feels like math as much as "really hard thinking"! The weekly assignments felt like puzzles. I had a great time in this class. Some people get frustrated, but some people love it!

Dr. Lewin is a lovely individual, but her teaching style is not for everyone. It's true, she likes to see how you think. Her style incorporates a lot of conceptual learning, so don't expect to just plow through the math without explaining what you did. She's always around for tutoring, though, and will help you out until you understand.

Lewin has her own distinct manner of teaching, which isn't for everyone (though non-linear thinkers tend to LOVE it). She and I were at odds for most of the class, then I went to see her. She stuck with the problem at hand and kept explaining until it made sense to me. She puts a TON of effort into making sure you understand, and she's very sweet.

Has delusion that she is an English professor. Loves to use vague instructions like "interpret this" and berates you for not reading her mind to figure out what she expects you to do. Does pelvic thrusts when explaining concepts. Problem sets due every week, which you can do corrections on. She won't use common sense when grading these.

Myrtle is a sweetie, but her teaching style did not work for me. Other people in class seemed to love her and her teaching style, however for me she seemed to explain things backwards of the way I needed to hear it.

Dr. Lewin is very nice and tries VERY hard to help. Unfortunately (and this could just be me and my less than great math ability) she didn't always make much sense when she tried to help. I did pass the class but it was frustrating because I never felt like I truly understood what I was doing.

Although very willing to help, I found her to be extremly unclear. I thought I had learned something in class and later found that her concepts had no effect on me at all. She's a sweet lady but she take basic concepts and turns them into complicated riddles. I wouldn't do it again!

ALthough she is hard and challenging, any person that loves math will love her. Though I do not reccomend her for the beginning level.
