If you're interested in the field of social work, then you'll enjoy this class. It's like actually being employed as a case manager. Lots of lectures; take notes. Encourages independence. Uses Blackboard for everything. Doesn't give any quizzes, instead assigns papers a service learning project, and group project. Attendance matters. READ!

Easy. Literally just show up and pay attention and you will get an B. Read the textbook and you are at an A. Not many assignments outside of school. Barker tells many interesting stories from her travels.

Prof. Barker's class hsm 117 is interesting only if you are interested in social work. She does tend to ramble a bit but it was fine with me, she also tells personal stories that relate to the topic. This is an easy course as long as you do the work and show up to class ON TIME . She's a very helpful and caring women even tho at 1st seems like a B

She's a nice lady and all but you're better off choosing another teacher for sociology . She doesn't really teach. It's mostly her asking the class questions, then never elaborating on what ever answer she gets. She would write down a definition but not define it usually. If you want to learn then you have to read the textbook. GG no RE

I had her tues/thur class the fall semester. She teaches very good but your success in her class depends on how much interest you have in the field. If you have no interest and do not care about her class she will willingly sign a withdraw form. She does not like tardiness or cellphones. She is a awesome professor tho i did very well in her class.

Shes a social worker, so its very helpful because she tells you what goes on the field. Fair grading. Just take notes. Very interesting. Before test she does a review which helps a lot. Shes funny too.

She gives study guides and her tests are extremely easy as long as you study. She reviews before the test and basically gives you the opportunity to do well. It's a great class and she's not lazy.

Professor Barker is a great teacher. Even though she is lazy and teaches from her desk she cares about her students. If you need an easy three credit class you should def take her. two tests, a resume,an essay and a presentation... the second test was take home. She is an easy A!!i will admit she is lazy tho and i was dreading coming!

Lazy. She teaches from her desk, never really gets up, judgmental, even though she says you cant do so in the field. Easy grader though, explains exactly what she wants, passes around examples and gives you plenty of time to complete the assignments. Can't complain, got an A. No tolerance for rudeness..

Took both classes this semester. She gives assignments and expects them done - how she wants them. lectures are lectures. But she's a fair grader. She doesn't have patience for rude people - which I don't blame her. Studied off the guides - payed attention in her lectures - got A's.

She is not a very good professor. Yes her class is easy though. But she never writes notes on the board which makes it hard to study!!!! She likes sitting down and teaching too because she is lazy. She does give study guides but since he gives no notes you have to go and look it up in the text book. I hate this class.

A really good teacher who knows what she's teaching. Her class isn't hard- show up and do the work. If you're a slacker though, (I was) she has no patience for it. Might not always be 'nice,' but is a real professional.
