Nancy Gardner is a better professor than made out to be. She is a lecturer and her class is paired with an activity class. Her class consists of a lot of ALEKS and SmartText from her book, making half of the class online. She also emphasizes that to make up for any online issues, she will add 10% to your grade. Overall, I feel I've learned well.

The chem 90 class is not hard but she doesn't make it easier. Her explanations are often unclear and there's only her way of doing things which makes things difficult.

You are expected to teach most of the class to yourself. Most of the information you are expected to learn is not even on the CPT. But you still need to actually put in effort if you expect to be ready for Chem 111A.

You can get away with not going to lecture in this class and just reading and taking notes from the textbook. The tests are usually way easier than the homework same with the placement. Skip this class if you can its almost a waste of time and shouldnt be stressed about.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!!! She does not give one single crap about students. She makes you buy her textbook that she WROTE which is almost $200, and doesn't even teach with it. She exploits students by doing this. She's useless, her class is useless, and her graduate students who do the activity session are equally as USELESS. WASTE OF TIME

She reads off of slides, and the book is written by her so there's no other cheap alternative. You also need to get Aleks which is more money down the drain. If you can test out of Chem 90, do it!!! its a waste of time and money.

Chem 90 is a really easy class I don't know why Nancy is getting so much hate. I had to switch from Chem 111A, because it was too much for me as a freshman and this class was nothing compared to 111A. Yes, the text book is expensive but the intensity is very low. Quizzes are extra credit and the lecture notes are not hard to understand.

Bad at teaching and makes me regret exploring bio as an undeclared major. Makes simple chemistry the most difficult subject ever. Wouldn't be surprised if I fail both the class and the test. I just want a C because I don't want to return to her class. Please prioritize your time in this class.

This is by far one of the worst classes I have ever taken. This professor has no passion while teaching and does not help students at all. She was asked for help and straight up said she didn't know. If it weren't for the TA teaching the activity section of this class then I would definitely be failing.

She was basically reading off the powerpoint and asking questions didn't help either because she would just say or do the same thing before we asked the question. It felt like she was just throwing information at us, it felt as if she had no passion in teaching this. I know what a caring, thoughtful teacher is, and she doesn't seem like one at all.

This was the hardest chem class. All you really need to do is pass the CPT. She tells you that all of the hard stuff will be on the CPT but no, it was basic stuff. She goes by lectures so fast that I have many incomplete notes because of her. This class stressed me so much I started to get headaches from it.

Okay honestly this class was a waste of time and she definitely rips of her students by forcing them to buy a book she wrote when her lectures are the same as the notes in her book. I HIGHLY recommend that you take the CPT and try to pass before taking this course because it might waste of time if you understand basic chem concepts.

Professor Gardner's Chem 90 classes are huge! She goes by the material very fast and so many people don't understand the criteria. I don't blame them. Though understand that she is teaching a semesters worth of lessons in 10 weeks. She has to go through the material as fast as she could to cover all the criteria. Note that CPT is all that matters.

Nancy Gardner wasn't a good teacher overall, but there was some material that actually help for the CPT. Even though ALEKS was a pain, that is were I mostly learned. Yet, it also depends on the student if they are willing to put the effort in to it.

This class was terrible. If you're fairly decent at chem (like got an A in hs chem) you don't really need this class. It's a pass or fail and it only prepares you for the CPT. Mainly rely on ALEKS to actually learn something.

listen, she's a fine person at heart, but learning chemistry from this woman is nearly impossible. be prepared to rely heavily on your textbook, friends, and google. also, aleks is the actual worst and the tests have things on them that you don't go over. good luck, as of right now she's the only chem90 proff.
