I took this class on Tuesdays at 6:20 pm. Professor Smith is incredibly funny and approachable. I hate public speaking, but enjoyed this class because it helped me improve the way I gather information and articulate my ideas to others. Professor Smith is interested in you succeeding and improving your speech skills. She will not set you up to fail

Comment:

Norma is the best professor I've had. She cares so deeply about everyone and is so fair. She understands adversities and is always willing to work with her students. She lectures a lot. Speech is not as bad as everyone thinks, especially with Norma!! Take her for Speech if you can!!

The best teacher I ever had. Public speaking is the biggest fear for most of us but she made it so easy and you will improve by end of the semester. I would love to take more classes with her but she only teaches speech. If you are shy person like I was, take her class. Easy grader if you show up & do your homework. TAKE HER!

Comment:

Norma is arguably the best speech teacher you can take. She is knowledgable and passionate about public speaking. If you have to take speech, take her course. I had to take a night course which was almost three hours long a class, but it was fun. She makes the classes really enjoyable.

Comment:

I was not looking forward to this class, but Norma made this class so much easier to deal with. Not only is she there for you when you need help, but she is supportive, and she believes in you. If she taught other classes, I would take her class in a heartbeat. She is passionate about her job and it really shows.

I was prepared to struggle a lot with English as my second language. Her motivation, support, and passion made me to SPEAK. I learned a lot. This class needs to be a dedicated and a prepared student; it also needs to know well the value of word and time. Thank you Norma!

I hated the idea of taking Speech, but she made it kind of enjoyable. Attendance is "mandatory" but she was flexible as long as you didn't take advantage. It is an easy class to pass provided that you do the work. She encourages you to speak in a format that is comfortable to you. She is one of the best prof that I have had at Harper.

Norma is a great teacher. She cares about the students and wants them to succeed. Not a lot of reading and no homework other than a few journal entries and speech preparation (4 speeches). Attendance is mandatory on days when speeches are presented.

She does not grade you based on being the best speech giver, its all about how you can and do improve throughout her class, a few 1 page journal entries and some reading out of her text book which is extremely small. 4 speech's and an improv speech. No tests or quiz's!!! very little homework. only issues i had was her not using blackboard gradebook

Norma makes class fun. She doesn't waste your time, so don't waste hers. She understands not everyone can speak in front of a class as well as some. She is understanding, and sweet. Always there to help you with your speech, and always responds via phone or E-mail.

Ms. Smith is awesome! I am such a better speaker now..I took her night class once a week. No test or quizzes, even no homework- maybe a short paragraph (you can do in class if u forgot)..4 or 5 speeches, the final speech is a redo of one of the speeches before. YOu tape yourself and right a review. Just do better than your past speeches and easy A.
