Comment:

Worst professor I have ever had. Took online. Assignments are extremely unclear, quiz's are very difficult, and the final must be taken on paper and pencil. The final, which is impossible to pass, also counts for the majority of your grade. So even if by some miracle you do fine up until then still don't count on passing.

Comment:

Terrible class. I lasted about 5 weeks, but was devoting way too much time to the class. After the first of 4 major programs, Dr. Peterson said that he tried it over the weekend and it took him about 12 hours. Stands at up front and writes code fragments on the whiteboard without ever showing demos of anything. Take it summer from someone else.

This teacher is useless, worst teacher that I have ever had at this school and that says a lot. Completely disinterested in helping students and his curriculum is designed around him doing as little work as possible. I took this class on line but I talk to a few people that took the class version and he was horrible in that tool.

AVOID THIS MAN! Went to class the first two days of the semester, then for about five minutes every week to turn in assignments. Dr. Peterson's lectures consist of topics way beyond the scope of this lower division class and that aren't even tested on. I read the book, turned in assignments & labs, never went to class, and got an A- out of it.

In this online class we had a month and a half discussion over whether or not the teacher was still alive. His antiquated style causes problems. He expects you to write code in pencil (online!), and memorize unnecessary syntax for tests.

Dr. Peterson is an amazing teacher, but very difficult. I had him for a CS 2420 class and I failed the first time taking it. I did very well the 2nd time, but I really had to buckle down and study hard. If you are serious about learning Computer Science, then I highly recommend taking his classes. YOU WILL LEARN A LOT!

I had him for an online class. Does not answer questions, does not grade assignments and projects, quizes and tests are extremely difficult and impossible to score high on. I was not impressed

Ron Petersen is a very knowledgable teacher. He really knows his stuff. Sometimes though he forgets we are just students and stuff goes flying over your head. He also rarely answers you ask. But if you can study and give the time you will do fine.

Peterson usually has pretty good lecture notes to match up with his exams. He doens't assign alot of busy work. Exams are pretty difficult. Writting code sucks!

He's tough, but fair. He gives enough info in class so that anyone can get an A, they just have to learn the material for themselves. I'd recommend every CS student should take a course from him, since he understands the nuts and bolts of computer so well
