I took an online class with Dr. Wacker and you can tell by the way he comments on every discussion and essay submission he really cares about his students. I got full points for every assignment. Submitted and so got an easy 4.0. Overall he is a great professor!

Dr. Wacker really cares about his students and gives out good feedbacks for essays. His 281 is basically 299/297 that you read scientific papers and analyze them. I've just received 4.0 but I didn't get 4.0 for every assignment so I guess he is an easy grader:)

I took his engl 281 class, you actually dont really do much in class. Its usually silent while people find research papers through google scholar and such to use as evidence for 2 papers and a poster (which is an online template). He is really nice though, and is always willing to help. You dont really learn much besides the first week of class.

I took his ENGL 299 class (Intermediate Interdisciplinary Writing - Natural Sciences) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dr. Wacker is very approachable and reasonable when it comes to other classes getting in the way. If you miss class, be sure to ask a friend what you missed, because there is no Panopto recording.

Along with the other comments, I love Norman's clear compassion for his students! It is true that organization is not his strength, but overall class with him is fun, and I think he has a lot of great feedback to offer. He is known for his tangents, but I always like hearing what's on his mind!

He is pretty scattered and you won't always know what's going on, but he is genuine and passionate which makes up for it. Plus he is very lenient and accepts late assignments. He once interrupted his own sentence to tell us about some cool trees he saw in Nevada. It was easy, I improved my writing skills and picked up a few good life lessons.

Norman is very easy going and has a good sense of humor about him. I didn't learn a lot during lecture, I learned mostly from his feedback on my papers. He is good at rambling and you have to be in class to get good grades on the stuff that counts.

Pros: is extremely accessible, always answers questions in a prompt manner, very polite Cons: can ramble during lecture, is a little scattered, but this is made up for by his desire to answer any question and provide lots of feedback.

Amazing teacher who genuinely cares about students. Such a great person to talk to. Please ask for clarification at any chance you get. If you don't reach out whenever you get confused, you definitely won't pass. Honestly amazing.

Comment:
Dr. Wacker is wild. He is such a genuine person which makes him hard to dislike; he really is passionate about the coursework and literature. That being said, he probably gives the worst directions of any professor I've ever had. This man will talk for 20 mins & after minute 2 you will have no idea what he's talking about. However, easy grader.

Seems like a good guy and cares about his students, but the course was a waste of time. Directions are confusing and he doesn't give due dates in advance. Group work for almost every class meeting. The few lectures we had were rambling. He does give thoughtful comments on papers but ultimately doesn't provide a lot of insight

He's a nice guy, but extremely hard to understand what he wants you to do. He rambles on and on, and any point he tries to make it lost in translation. Writing essays for him was a bit of a shot in the dark, since i was confused about what he was saying constantly. If you have specific questions you can ask him 1-on-1 he is pretty helpful

He is probably the nicest person ever, but also sort of a pushover. It is hard to get a straight answer out of him, and any question you ask usually gets an answer at least 15 minutes long. He's great if you're looking for someone to easily grade your essays.

I took a linked Engl class w/ C LIT from Norman. He can be difficult to understand, but is very nice and willing to clarify. He will push you to improve your writing by expanding your thinking. He is not a hard prof but you will learn a lot. He would probably be harder to understand in a non-engl/lit linked course. I would take him again though!

He's very nice and smiley, tends to ramble (but it's okay so long as you don't have another class to go to immediately). He is a self-admitted poor direction giver, so you might be confused about assignments at first, but this can be remedied by asking for clarification 1+ times. :)

I did a study abroad with Norm. He's a stand-up guy--enthusiastic, friendly, funny and very approachable. Norm always has time for students, and if his in-class explanation is confusing, he'll always clarify matters for you after school. He bent over backwards to make sure his students were well-cared for in Prague; extremely intelligent.

Very, very nice man, not a good teacher. Not focused on course objective in linked course; he is very committed to teaching and has enourmous enthusiasm for the material, but explanations and assignments were rambling and ufocused.

He's a good teacher who is engaging and interested in his students. In his self- profile on the internet he describes himself as someone who has been loving Shakespeare in public for many years. That's enough for me. I'm straight, so the hot/not hot rating is empty.
