Prof Merino is a good educator, he gives out reasonably difficult exams which are always similar to Wiley problems. He does require physical homework sometimes, so it would be true to say he gives out a lot of homework. He does have an accent, but one will get used to it after a week, also he doesn't usually give back credit for Wiley tech problems

I love this professor! He's generally just really sweet and he wants to make sure everyone understands the material. He also is a little quirky so it makes lectures not super boring but sometimes his voice puts me almost to sleep. This class is pretty easy to do well in, as long as you pay attention in lecture and do the homework for practice.

I've alright at math, not the best but not the worst. This was one of my favorite courses at URI (I'm a bio major). I took it a couple semesters ago, but I think having Professor Merino as a teacher made the class enjoyable. Very good at explaining and clearly cares about the students. Would definitely take a class with him again

Best calc teacher hands down, very nice, and helps you if you need it and ask for it. Explains concepts well and tries to involve class as much as possible in lecture.

Great professor! This was my second time taking the course and in the summer, I went from an F to an A! He explained methods I had never been told in my previous class and always encouraged questions from students. He gives partial credit on tests and he will work with you if you have any issues with his grading or the material.

Hard to understand sometimes as he sometimes gets distracted. He's always willing to help with wiley homework, but doesn't always know how to work the technology. Very understanding if you need to reschedule a test or quiz.

Professor Merino is such a good, caring professor. He may treat his students like babies and walk through every aspect of each chapter, but for Calculus, it is certainly not a bad thing. He is efficient with grading, and prepares you well for the exams.

Dr. Merino was a great professor for MTH 322. In addition to the midterm and a final, he also assigned a presentation and a paper. He assigns a lot of homework. His tests are based on the homework and are pretty fair. His classes are interesting and interactive. He is very happy, friendly, and willing to help during class and during office hours.

I highly recommend him! He's a pretty average professor when it comes to lectures and a little monotonous. However, he is an absolute sweetheart and truly cares about his students. I missed a few classes because I was really depressed and was doing poorly and he sought me out to make sure I was ok and to help me. So sweet!

He is definitely one of the best Math professors at URI. Take him for any Math at URI. The material is challenging and you have to do a lot of work. However, it was nothing compared to the PreCalc mini tests that we had to do. I am glad the Math Dept. got rid of the cap if you did not pass the mini test. Otherwise many would get D's or less.

Dr. Merino is a great guy. He's willing to explain the material (especially when it's very confusing) with as much detail as is necessary, and he is very helpful in his office. He's a genius with technology, too, which certainly helps in higher-level math courses. I highly recommend taking a class with him if you ever have the opportunity.

Orlando Merino is an unbelievably great professor. I was always uncomfortable with higher level math, and have a very weak background in it. After taking his class I feel inspired to take more higher-level math courses. Not only did he teach calculus, he also covered all the required algebra and trigonometry in the most understandable fashion.

I took the same course with Dr. Montgomery and failed because he was so terrible. I took it with Merino the following semester and got an A-! I really do not like math but he made it enjoyable! He was so helpful and one of the best teachers I have had. Love him!! Thanks professor Merino!!
