Comment:

He is an okay teacher. He has a thick accent, the test are sometimes hard to pass. If you ask a question you have to know what to ask and does not really explain himself. He is a nice guy just hard to understand and speak with sometimes.

Hes a nice guy, willing to answer questions but you cant really ask any questions if you dont know what you dont know. Very hard to understand him, has difficulty explaining himself and relies a little too much on videos. Only real way to pass is with extra credit. Half the class ended up dropping out, leaving about 6 students. Projects no sense

Comment:

Personality wise, he's extremely respectful and enjoyable. However, his teaching style is anything but great. In fact, it's terrible. I can't understand what he's saying and most of the time he doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. The tests are hard, the videos are boring, and the projects make no sense. There is extra credit which helps.

Such a sweet guy, but very hard to understand. The tests are not easy but he gives chances for extra credit by reading the chapter and sending questions.

I can't understand him 95% of the time. He has a thick accent and his homework assignments are awful. He assigns the most boring 45 minute videos, and sometimes won't even test on it. He doesn't make it clear what he wants for the class projects. He is a very nice man, but the course is boring in general and he just makes it worse.

Señor Flores is a very awesome professor. He will crack a joke every now and then so the class is not boring. Yes he has a strong accent but he is a good teacher. He will help you when necessary.

I took this class straight out of high school using transfer credits. The work load was over my head, and I couldn't understand what he wanted us to do in class because his English was so broken. Save yourself the stress and embarrassment and find another teacher.

He is a very tough grader, if you don't write exactly what he's looking for you'll either get the answer wrong or get many points off. He doesn't make the final project very clear for what he wants and leaves it up to you to figure it out. Also, his accent makes it very easy to tune him out so make sure you read the book so you know what's going on

I dreaded taking SPA213 with Oscar because of comments here but was pleasantly surprised by his muted enthusiasm and his clear-cut style of teaching. The workload is what's expected of a 200-level language class in which practice is a must. He won't coddle but he will be more than helpful if he sees you struggling with the material. A PSU standout.

Comment:

Took Latin American studies for gen ed credit. He's a pretty chill professor, down to earth, pretty funny too. However it is a tough class. You're grade depends on if you read. you MUST read or you will not do well on his tests. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and he is very easy to approach to ask for help.

If you put the work in, you should do well in this class. Although it depends on how you like the class to be set up. He lectures the whole class and relies upon the textbook. That being said, essentially the questions from the test are at the end of each chapter. He goes over the questions in class. If you write them down, you should do well.

This teacher is very helpful. As long as you do the homeworks which are in the syllabus, you will be fine. I must admit that if you are a Spanish speaker this class will be a lot easier and you will understand him more. Those who are not Spanish speakers he is still willing to help even during the exams. I have had him for 3 classes.

He is a lovely professor! Don't listen to any of the negative comments. Sure his accent is a bit difficult to understand but he WILL repeat something if you don't understand it. His classes and tests are all straight forward and if you just pay attention, you can overlook his accent. Definitely recommend!

Flores is awesome. Yes, he does have a thick spanish accent but he does his best to make sure you understand him. His work is easy and his tests are very straight forward. Definitely recommended.

One of the worst teachers in SUNY Plattsburgh. Not only is this class 100% ridiculous but his tests make no sense at all. His thick spanish accent makes it impossible for him to answer any questions you may have so make sure you're knowledgable.

I already felt this class was unnecessary to take. However Flores has a very thicke accent to where i couldn't understand anything he was saying. He has so much work, and all the test and quizes are essays. it was diffcult to understand and keep interest with so much work to maintain with. I despise this class

Too much work for 100 level course! 4 current events, 4-5 tests, quizes every week, presentations, 2 book reports, and i did an extra presentation about Nicaragua where he is from, but the guy is a hard grader! AVOID!!! TRUST MEEE STAY AWAY!!!

Save yourself right now and do not take any class with this man. I know he means well but he has the thickest accent and speaks no English at all. He goes extremely fast and doesn't explain the material well. His tests are very hard and you have both online and book homework everyday.
