This guy knows his stuff, and is here to teach you and that's it. Don't be fooled by his seemingly grumpy personality. If you are willing to learn he's got a lot to teach. Do your work, show up to class and you'll be fine. He's a great dude when you get to know him, and gives praise and credit when it's due. Loves his hazelnut coffee creamer.

Had ole Pat Welch for 3D design in 1995. He is a great teacher and fun to talk to about artwork and just about anything else. Always remembered my name and talked about my projects..YEARS after I took his class. Great Teacher!

Comment:

Easily one of the best professors at CCAD. A lot of people don't like him because he comes off as just an old prick, but he's really a pretty cool old dude, and he really knows his stuff. I learned a ton from him. He's not that hard, just strict, but it's neccesary for the material.

This guy deserves a great big cheezin smiley face!!! He was very difficult, but if you didn't understand or requested a redo, and were willing to meet him during his help sessions (which he definatley doesnt have to do) you would receive exceptional grades. He is one of the best teachers at CCAD!

He's very monotonous and it takes bout 3/4 of the semester for him to remember your name. His critiques are really thorough and helpful, though, and students from his class are usually the most knowledgable. I liked him.

I love this man. His class is difficult. He's confusing on assignments and he lacks the energy to keep it interesting. However, he's a perfectionist and gets students to care about the details. If you want to learn how to be more critcal. Take him.
