I made an account just to write how much I hated this class and professor. Its not that the class is hard he is just not good at explaining how to do the problems given and he takes off points for any little mistake made.

Comment:

Prof. Murphy really cares about his students. If you put in the effort he will help you as best he can. All of the test comes from the notes and the techniques that he shows you. If you skip you miss good info. Grading is very clear. 4 take home quizzes. 4 exams. He drops the lowest quiz and exam. I'm horrible at math but ended with an 88.

Professor Murphy is THE professor you want for 1107. If you pay attention during class he does a great job of explaining everything you'll need to know. Homework is not required for a grade but if you don't do it your grades on the test will reflect it. It's 4 tests and 4 quizzes.

Professor Murphy was the worst teacher I've taken at Valencia College thus far. Seriously, his syllabus was based on quizzes, tests and the final exam. Participation, attendance, homework, etc. DID NOT MATTER AT ALL. Of course, you had to attend his class to hear his lectures but some of it made no sense. No extra credit opportunities either...

Comment:

Professor Murphy does a great job of keeping you engaged during the lecture. The format of 4 quiz's and 4 tests is fair as long as you show up to class. Homework is not mandatory but is important to make sure you stay on top of the course. I would take professor Murphy again.

GREAT Professor, grat class. he does interesting games during classes and groups exercises, and he teaches step by step how to use the calculator in finance. he is the step by step teacher. he really teaches. he does not grade home work . he has a net web site with notes and exercises and he really use the text book. he is a good heart, good person

4 quizzes 4 tests. No final unless you need to retake a test. Every chapter for MFG1107 is different. Once you finish one chapter the next does not relate. He is very passionate about math and loves a strong student who cares about their journey in learning. I wish I could take him for MAC1105 but he does not teach it. Awesome professor!

Professor Murphy is really one of the best out there. He cares for his students and does his absolute best to teach his students the best way he can. He's funny, approachable, and a good person. I am so happy I took his class. He's a great professor!

He is an amazing teacher, but his math problems was very new to me, but I am good with math tho. It is just that his tests were too difficult. So, I will recommend all of you to ask him for help instead of math center because he is more helpful in that math course. Good luck with all of you taking his class.

I hate math and I got an A. If you put the time and effort to study, go over class notes, and do the HW, then youll be fine. People that received less than a stellar grade can only blame themselves.

Professor Murphy is a really good professor. Im usually never good at math but when taking statistics with him, that all changed. There are 5 quizzes and 4 tests throughout the course. He is very good at teaching and if you are ever behind just ask him for help. All in all a great professor and would recommend him to anyone looking to take stats!

Amazing Profesor! I dont like math and he made it enjoyable and entertaining. This teacher knows how to explain math! The grade consists of homework which is not worth credit for chapter. There are 4 take home quizzes and in class 4tests that's it! renting textbook from the library is fine. There is no final and no midterm! One test retake at end

Tough grader. But he is very good. Take advantage of his office hours his 1:1 times are great. Doesnt grade homework, but do the homework good practice. Class is quiz and test heavy.

Hes an amazing teacher ! He explains everything thoroughly and tries to explain everything so everyone can understand that material. Ive never had a professor that teachers amazing as he does. The tests are graded a little harsh but as long as you read the textbook and do the quizzes (which are take home) you will do good!

Professor Murphy was a wonderful instructor. He is great at giving example problems and clarifying any questions. He's also almost always available through email. The homework given is not mandatory, however he only grades 4 quizzes and 4 testes throughout the semester. Do your homework for practice and you'll pass this class.

Professor Murphy is truly a great professor. Coming from a person who really struggles with math classes, I thoroughly enjoyed his class. He takes his time in explaining the section you're in. Before you even dive into the section Professor Murphy gives background information on how, and why what you are learning is relevant. GREAT PROFESSOR!!!!!!

This prof does not get enough credit. One of the best math prof's i've ever had. The teaching was lucid and easy to understand. I highly recommend him as a prof. He is super nice and is always there if you need him.
