Comment:

Does not teach at all. You read the lesson and do the homework for that lesson before class. He goes over material that you've already taught yourself. Don't expect to have a small conversation with him before or after class. He'll only talk to you if you set up an appointment. I have not learned anything new all year. If anything, I taught myself.

Comment:

I highly suggest to not take this course unless you like to read math textbooks and learn on your own. He comes into class and reads 2-3 of the important definitions and then just goes over homework. He expects you to know what he's talking about without actually teaching you what you need to know. Quizzes are only 2 questions... 50pts. each.

This professor is not helpful at all. He does not let you get up to use the bathroom, and if you leave class, you will lose participation points. Only gives quizzes with two questions each. He makes you read each section the night before class, complete the homework, and then 'teaches' the section. He will only show 1 or 2 problems during class.

The worse teacher I have EVER had. He makes you do homework on a lesson BEFORE he lectures it which makes it extremely difficult to do the homework. He kicked a kid out and gave him a 0 for a quiz because he was 3 minutes late and caused a huge scene. He made a girl use her drop quiz on her FINAL because he moved the final up and she couldnt make

I honestly think he is the worst professor ever. He really doesn't care about his students and has an attitude if you don't know a question. I recommend that you don't take this course because you won't learn anything. Also, you get 7 quizzes and the lowest quiz grade gets dropped. There are no tests.

He does have strict policies but they make sense. You aren't allowed out of the room once class starts. No phone use. With this being said, there are 9 quizzes (2 are dropped) Each one is on 3 or 4 sections so studying is easy. He doesn't do much actual teaching to be honest. You read a section, do the HW and the next class he goes over the section

Not only is he a horrible professor, he is also a horrible person. I am shocked he even got a job because of his negative attitude and how he belittles his students. He has an extremely unreasonable policy where you cannot use the bathroom, and hopefully nothing bad happens in your life while you are in his class because he wont care. DO NOT TAKE

The most unhelpful professor I have ever had, does not care about his students at all, you can't leave the room to go to the bathroom, if you do he will take off points. He favors certain students and is unnecessarily rude, appears to have an attitude the entire semester. Do not take this professor unless you are planning on failing!

Does not answer any questions you have and you better not get up to use the bathroom even if it's an emergency because he will fail you for that. And don't even think about checking your phone during his class. The material he teaches in class isn't even on the quizzes half of the time. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.

Bad. He gives you homework before he teaches it to you so you don't know how to do it . He doesn't let you leave during class if you do he talks to you once class is over. And if you are even 30 seconds late to class it counts as a late even if you missed nothing, it is marked down and will hurt your grade if you are "late" more then 2 times.

Do not take this teacher if you want to be taught the material, and don't want to teach it to yourself. He does a switched classroom, meaning he assigns textbook pages to read and follows with homework problems, all before he even teaches it. Then, if we have questions, he will briefly go over the material. 7 quizzes, lowest 2 are dropped.

He runs a tight ship, and MEA requires you read from the textbook for every section. If you're willing to put the time in to read and do homework then you will be absolutely fine(assuming you made it through calc 1-3). The quiz problems are similar or identical to the book. The content is tough, so is he, but overall there's nothing unfair here.

He doesnt tell you what hes taking points off for. Rushed out at the end of class and he wont answer personal questions in class so good look trying to talk to him about your grades and he doesnt use blackboard. Anything in the book is fair game to be tested on even if he never discussed it in class. He has no problem failing a student

He's a crude professor and tough grader. I received a 13/100 on the final project due to my assigned group mates finishing their parts late, even though my part was complete and on time. I send him numerous emails trying to meet with him to talk but he rudely declined. He doesn't want his students to succeed; I aced the final, but failed the class.

Does not teach unit until after you do HW- which is very counterproductive. Seems like an angry divorced man whose kids won't speak to him. Barbaric cell phone policy. Does not appreciate that his students are the reason he isn't unemployed.

Overall, not a bad choice. His cellphone and attendance/late policy is a bit strict. He gives 8 quizzes throughout the semester and drops the lowest two. Quizzes weren't that hard. He does make you do the homework before he teaches the lecture though. Keeps you ahead of the game but can get a little annoying. Do the homeworks and you'll do fine.

This is the worst possible professor you could have for Calculus 3. His standards for grading are ridiculous and he hates kids. He does not teach; the whole class is based on the textbook homework. The quizzes ask questions regarding the most irrelevant information and he could care less if you fail. I learned a lot but my grade says otherwise.

He is great at teaching the material in an understandable way. However, if you're the kind of person that wants to discretely check your phone once a class, do not take him. Use ur phone once 1/2 of your participation points gone. Use ur phone twice all your participation pints gone. Don't take if you need to check on ur grandmother once an hour.

To be honest, his class is as fair as it gets. He has a strict no phone policy, but that is because he wants to pay attention to his lecture. And his lecture are actually insightful and give a god explanation of the material at hand, granted you actually pay attention and not slack off. If you do the homework and participate, it is an easy A.

Comment:

Dr. Laumakis isn't for everyone, because he's very particular in his lectures and teaching. MEA is completely reliant on the textbook (lots of reading) for the daily homework (3-4 problems), which he checks daily for completeness. There is no midterm or final so the majority of your grade is from the fair weekly quizzes. Hard work good grade
