Pauline was the most supportive writing teacher I ever had. Though I knew her only for two semesters, I felt she had a personal, vested interest in my writing progress and have never felt that kind of support from another professor. She had a deep passion for prose and poetry. Im happy to have been able to be her student.

She basically holds your hand through the portfolio assignments, easy peasy. Such a fun loving and nice professor. Really wants you to do well. Pauline creates a "club" environment, rather then the traditional "students in a class room" vibe.

Focus is on 3 portfolios & additional indiv assignments, easy criteria. Peer review amazing experience. Learned alot. Prof is clear with corrections, accepts any writing form. Prof is a very nice person, easy going, wants students to do well. Def would take her again.

I took Pauline for Short Story. This being a non-major course, it was fairly easy and she was always ready to help or give extra credit. Very kind, always interested in what her students are writing. Be cautioned, though: she has an odd sense of humor that can sometimes come across as mean, though it isn't intentional.

she gives out easy extra credit like its going out of style. If you get on her good side she will give you a good grade. You do have to read and write, and her tests are strictly essay based, but she gives you the topics before the test, so just plan out the essays ahead of time. She gives 1% point if you are present but not alot of people show up.

She's definitely one of the best professors I have ever had. Pauline is extremely knowledgeable and interesting. I enjoyed her lectures consistently. Participation is important in her class, as is attendance. She helped me improve my writing but can be a bit harsh on occasion with criticism; she means well, though. She cares about students.

No, Pauline is not a pedant who assigns identification quizzes. But her laissez-faire teaching style (heavily reliant on essay tests and infrequently-assigned papers)is certainly not for everyone, and her specialties in graphic lit, contemp. poetry, and cultural studies add great depth to a very provincial department. Highly, highly underrated.

The best professor I had all semester. Interesting, amusing, passionate about her work. Tough, but lenient when she feels your really making the effort. show genuine interest in writing GOOD papers and she'll always give extensions. My writing skills improved immensely. If you don't take a class with Pauline you're missing out on an amazing NP prof

I took her contemporary short fiction grad class and the book choices were GREAT as were our class discussions. She's VERY hard on written work when it comes to grammar, punctuation (technical stuff)but is always open to your ideas and willing to work with you before an assignment is due. I would take her again in a heartbeat.

It was a good class. There was a lot of notes, and sometimes boring classes, but Pauline is a really caring, laid back teacher. She really wants to help you, and wants to see everyone succeed, even if that means letting you redo papers 5 times...take her! She's great.
