Women And Politics lectures would ramble on current news and readings. Played cool documentaries with no assignments on them, so very little stress. Emails news links with no context but doesn't expect you to read them all. All essays clearly listed. Out of class midterm and final. Negative- Will sometimes argue political opinions as facts.

Her lectures make no sense! She gives us readings the night before or the morning of the lecture. Her test have nothing to do with what was discussed in class, she does NOT answer emails and is never there for office hours. SHE IS PRETTY MUCH NEVER ON CAMPUS unless it is class on that day and she'll stay in her office for 20m afterwards.

I took her Environmental Justice course this past semester and she's not a good professor at all. The lectures are hard to follow and drag on, and her grading doesn't make much sense at all. Additionally, she doesn't read emails and sends so many with little to no context whatsoever.

Comment:
Tough but intelligent professor. Took Race, Gender, and the Law and topics were very interesting! But she has a bad habit of assigning homeworks and extra reading last min (i.e night before or morning of). To me felt that her expectation was that of a grad class and not undergrad. Law cases are long and dry reads so time management is a must.

I'm an alum and out of curiosity I checked in on my professors - I can't believe these reviews! Lobur is extremely smart, extremely passionate, assigns thoughtful readings, and doesn't have time for your b.s. If you can't skim the reading and stay awake in class, that's your fault - her standards are totally fair and her classes are rewarding!

Connie Lobur is the most opinionated, pompous, sometimes rude, and LEAST helpful professor I have ever been taught by. She simply will not answer e-mails, her own political beliefs take over her unbearably long lectures (NOT a good quality for a Political Sciences professor to have), and doesn't listen to her students much. Avoid her if you can.

Don't take this course especially if you are a first year student. This is the hardest course I have ever taken and I knew I should have dropped it. Her lectures I boring and she basically talk up a storm about nothing relevant to the chapters.

Comment:
Lobur is very disorganized and has no direction. She will tell students to do reading before a lecture and basically get mad if someone doesn't know how to answer her questions in class. The professor may write a bunch of terms on the chalkboard and discuss subjects listed on her notepad, but you'll never have an organized lecture/ppt slides.

Worst professor I think I've ever had. She's unclear about basic guidelines, rude, condescending, and biased. She never wants to hear any opinions other than her own, and when there are differing opinions, she will literally say, "your opinion is wrong." Great topic for the class, but she made it an extremely unpleasant experience.

Connie was a wonderful. Tough, rigorous, and absolutely will not take your nonsense. Everyone who is moaning about her being biased is probably moaning because they aren't sure how to argue their point. Do the work, DO THE READING, and you'll do great. Annoyed that you don't understand the lectures but you didn't do the reading? That's on you.

Academically demanding; uses legalese, but she teaches LAW! Sets clear expectations. Do the work & she will give extra help. Classes aren't for going over readings (which are meant to aid understanding of lecture). To thrive in her classes, have a SOLID grasp of basic Amer. law. Take notes when reading, audio record lectures. STUDY & OVER PREPARE!

Comment:
Took American Constitutional Law. It was very dense and challenging, but her teaching was absolutely spot-on. I don't join the criticisms on this page, but rather argue that her supposed lack of clarity stems in great part due to the foreign nature of legally oriented materials and the legal teaching method.

She is the most unreliable teacher I have ever had. As my senior project adviser, she failed to explained much of what I needed to know. She did not show up to several of our meetings and often responded to E-mails late or not at all. Because of this, I worked on my senior project alone. She can be condescending and fails to engage her students.

Can't believe nothing has changed in 8 years. I am taking two courses with her and she is awful in both. Her lectures have nothing to do with reading material. Worst of all she is so subjective it makes it impossible for you to be objective because your grade will be affected for it. Avoid her at all cost.

I regret ever taking her course two yrs ago. I'd assume she supports authoritarian governments because that is how she ran her course. Forcing her own opinions, she was belittling, bias, judgmental, played gotcha politics and was never on topic. The worst of all is how she gossips with other professors about students via email. Unprofessional!

One of the best professors I have ever had at Purchase! She offered me the opportunity to do an independent study with her at the end of the course! If you do the work and come to class prepared (ready to talk), then getting a very high mark and enjoying class comes very easily! She is one of the best!

She is a nice woman, but she is barely audible, and speaks monotonously. She didn't respond to any emails with questions I had for her. It's a shame that I can't have the opportunity to be taught an interesting subject by someone who enjoys being animated. It seems unfair to pay tuition money and not have someone be excited about teaching at all.

professor lobur is a great teacher. though she can be somewhat unclear on occasion, she is passionate about the subject matter and relates that through her lectures. not to mention she is great when it comes to office hours, and has no interest in failing you. if you fail, you probably didnt do the work.

this woman's "teaching" style renders it impossible to take notes. i agree she does seem to be winging it about 90% of the time. occasionally she writes one word on the board that is supposed to speak volumes to us, meanwhile we're lost. her lectures are a series of rhetorical questions. SHE NEVER GETS TO THE POINT. but she is a nice woman.
