persis is such a great professor. i've taken her several times now and she's seriously so nice and considerate. she's also extremely knowledgeable and challenges you to think about your assumptions. there are a lot of reading responses and a final essay that's 30% of your grade, along with a final exam that's 20%. she's not that hard of a grader.

This professor is an expert in her field without a doubt. But if you are a full time student and have a job then your screwed. You have to read ALOT so be prepared and she expects a lot from you as well. She constantly criticized the class for lacking writing skills and takes FOREVER to grade! I would take her only if you don't mind the challenge.

A good lecturer. Passionate about the subject matter, and approachable. Will hold students to a high standard for writing. Assigns a lot of reading, but gives good study guides. VERY politically slanted. In class she will tell you to form your own opinions based on the information, but only ever assigns material that matches her viewpoint.

Awesome teacher! Very passionate about her job. She's very helpful and understanding. She wants to help! You HAVE to read all the books because there are quizzes, but the books she chooses are actually pretty entertaining.

She is a wonderful passionate teacher who has many wonderful insights to offer. READ THE BOOKS. Seriously, not only will you be tested on quotes without context, but they are also worth it. Fascinating class, Prof. Karim has strong opinions, but is willing to listen to alternative positions if you have evidence. She offers lots of extra credit too

She is very nice. Her Midterms and Finals are very easy. But if you try sparknoting her novels, good luck. Be prepared to read 6+ books. Once in a while she skips class. She is there to you if you need help. worst book we read was "I Saw Ramallah" best though was "In the Country of Men." each student does in class presentations.

Dr. Karmin teaches more of a poly sci course than a literature course. She assigns many extra readings to provide her historical viewpoint of the area. All her background isn't needed. Good literature should stand on its own. One must agree with her views for a good grade.

She is very passionate in what she teaches. Read EVERYTHING because she'll give pop quizzes every week. She's generous enough to let you make them up if you miss/fail any of them by going to the literary readings. She's a fair grader and this class was very tolerable, not a bad lecturer. Attendance is important, definitely.

Professor Karim is fabulous and I'm taking her again next semester! She is very passionate about literature and it shows! Her main goal is to spread knowledge to her students. Do the reading, it's a lot, but it really helps you out! I suggest taking reading notes to jot down details needed for the tests. Class discussion gets really interesting.

Broad knowledge of the material meant that she knew what she was talking about! Be sure that you have time to digest the material. Speed reading isn't going to help you here: she can tell! Good prof, though, if not a bit too picky about papers. A lot of English majors have more than one paper to write at a time!

Professor Karim is a fabulous lady. She has a deep passion for the creative writing field, is super friendly, and very approachable. She appreciates students that work hard on their assignments. If you're stuck, go to her office hours and seek more meaningful feedback that most students in class won't give you. I highly recommend this professor.

She's a lovely person. She's a good teacher too. IF you take her, just do the reading and don't skip class. Everything is a discussion and you will need those discussions for the exams, which aren't bad just a lot of writing. DO THE READING + GO TO CLASS + PARTICIPATE = A

Very interesting class. Just keep in mind there is a lot of reading and keep up or you have no chance. Also, don't wait to the last minute to do the reader responses.
