Covers a lot of material and I liked the chance to pick countries I am interested in to research and do a presentation. Gave honest feedback and asked tough questions. A lot of fun activities that helped you learn or made you think harder about what to learn. I wish there was a follow up course.

Don't expect your grades back until 2 days before the final, if that! Class is brutally boring and he even had the nerve to give 40 multiple choice on our final exam to "spare him marking time". The only thing you'll learn from this professor is his history of accounting, how he has taught in over 20 countries and how he is on the CPA board.

Professor seems to have the same issues most of the Accounting faculty has, they simply are out of touch with reality, have little to no respect for students, and cannot teach. Specifically Secord returns midterms over 2 months after they were written

"I will submit" that if you go to class and do the practice problems you will do fine. Don't expect to receive any feedback until the last day of class though. He made excuses all year for not grading papers for reasons like "my laundry room flooded this week" or "my wife interrupted me to watch the presidential debate".

This guy knows Advanced better than anyone can imagine, and showed every little trick (proof) to make sure you could get it right. Great balance of theory with application, made you feel like the subject really meant something and every student mattered to him. My favorite course.

Suffers from the same problem as most of the accounting profs at SMU: he simply can't teach.

Peter Secord is a very intelligent man and I think at times because of his vast experience I he has trouble with clarity in certain topics. He really speaks at a higher level and I found it easy to sit in class completely lost while he wrote out examples too quickly at the very end of class. This is the hardest class I've taken at SMU be warned.

Grades in this prof' class do not reflect the course outline whatsoever. He will not return a single grade to you by the end of the semester. He fails to respect your schedule, consistently showing up 15 minutes late for reasons such as "I was having a conversation at the pub and decided not to cut it off" It is a shame that this course is required

As of today (March 31), we never got a single grade back! and its the second last class. not sure if he is going to give us our marks back or not. He did say he gave us an A for the presentation though. Other then that he is an awesome prof, very helpful and friendly towards students and very passionate about the topic.

Avoid THIS instructor at all cost!! I got a C in "introductory accounting" with this teacher, while I had an accounting major with A grades from another school. He had 40% for class participation, and I had no idea what he was saying, with marbles in his mouth

He is horrible. On average he is alway 10-15 minutes late pre class. He never returned anything and never received any marks back no idea where you get your final mark from.

Worst experience of my university career thus far. Don't expect him to return any of your assignments, midterms, etc. We never got a mark back all semester, but were then slammed with extremely difficult midterms. Going into the final we had NO idea what our mark was, and still don't know where our final grade came from. AVOID!!

Not sure how this guy has such a high rating, cause he was the worst prof I've ever had. He was knowledgeable but he never returned a mark all semester. Plus, he often made the tests 10X harder than anything we've ever done in class. I had no idea how well I was doing until I got the final grade, and by that time it was too late. Avoid at all costs

most BIZARRE & TRAUMATIC experience. He was incomprehensible. In finals, I was hurriedly trying to finish at the end. I saw him running like a BULL towards me; starting from one corner of the room; throwing chairs and desks on his way. He HIT on my head with bunch of papers. Perfect GMAT quants score,Adult ADD, I cannot hear while hyperfocusing

Very knowledgeable. Knows his stuff and loves talking about it. However, has a lot on his plate and is slow with the marking. Haven't received one mark yet and it's final exam period... Good professor, but expect a long lag between submitting assignments and receiving your grade.

Smart and extremely knowledgable - integrates tax, audit, international accounting with the material in advanced accounting. Can really keep your attention - a lot of good zingers - but helps you nail the material, as he says backwards, forwards and upside down. Solid, very solid. Go to class and do your homework and he goes the extra mile too.

I've done my first international work assignment now and it was amazing that I had the tools to get ready and to really understand how to prepare, and it worked. I put it down to the concentration on underlying reasons, not the superficial, and the clear focus on the need for research and understanding history and context explained in this class.

Once the course was rolling, an amazing amount of material was covered and we all had a new understanding of how accounting has developed, diversified and is coming together again. Great prof: Really useful projects, a lot of choice for your own research, great examples, lots of experience; respectful of the needs of international studets.
