He is obviously very passionate and knowledgeable in his field of study. Really nice guy, attendance isn't mandatory to pass but he does make class enjoyable if you chose to go. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun, easy elective.

Professor's lectures are packed full of important information every day. He gets through slides quickly and often dismissed class early, so quick note-taking is important. Grade was determined by 50% midterm and 50% final.

Attendance isn't quite mandatory, he posts the powerpoint slides the day of the lecture which you can easily read yourself. He also has practice exams and the answers for you to do before the midterms which are kinda helpful.

Great class and great professor. Rainer posts powerpoints on Blackboard so attendance isn't 100% mandatory if you are willing to do the notes on your own time. Textbook is definitely not required. 3 midterms that were easy; however, the final was impossibly hard. Make sure you have a good mark going into the final and I would recommend taking this.

All of the lectures are posted on Blackboard the day of the class, easy to understand. I would suggest to read the textbook if you don't understand the lectures. He is extremely passionate about what he does and it is inspiring. Overall, great class.

Lots of lectures through use of power point presentations, easy to understand his English. Lots of reading from the textbook or you will notice some questions on the tests don't come from the lectures. Tests were challenging with the odd easy question here and there. Took this class for a science requirement for my degree and managed to pass.

I love Dr D. His lectures are very clear, and he doesn't test on anything but lecture material (and he posts complete notes). The class is really easy, if you read the lecture notes you'll pass. If you pay attention, he makes lots of subtle jokes. He's really passionate about what he teaches. There's also no homework, just 2 midterms and a final.

It is clear that Dr. D is very engaged in the subject material that he teaches, however the lectures were incredibly long and I had a hard time keeping my interest past 20 minutes. The notes are rather sparse, but he would never test on anything that wasn't in the textbook. Read the textbook, and this class is an easy mark booster.

Amazing prof. He has a great sense of humor and is passionate about what he teaches. If you read the textbook and don't go to class, you'll do fine. If you go to class and don't read the textbook, you'll also be fine. He is always willing to help you and sticks around after class if you have questions.

I had 0 interest in astronomy, but now I really enjoy it. Easy tests. Such a soft voice, it is easy to get distracted. Read the textbook and you are more than fine. Hard to fail this class.

Good prof but lacks in depth information to the class. Definitely have to read the textbook (even though he says optional). Can't just use his powerpoint presentation information. Tests are a little more difficult and some are in depth questions you weren't really taught in class. No calculations, only theory so that's a bonus.

Great prof, super easy exams and final. Reuses old ussu exams, so there is that. Not hard to get a 100 in this class.

A good class if you want a basic understanding of the stars, galaxies, etc. He's an enthusiastic professor and your not required to know math. His classes are long but tests are straightforward. Practice questions are super helpful so make sure to utilize those. Buy the textbook, super helpful after midterm 1.

The lectures were very long, but in the beginning of the course he usually finishes the lectures early which means you get to go home sooner. His accent is very strong and hard to understand so pay close attention. He posts all of the slides online so if you miss a class its easy to catch up. If you read the textbook, you're golden.

USSU OLD MIDTERMS ARE A MUST. 90% of midterm questions are reused (some tweaked). Midtermseasy 90-100. Lectures are SO boring, but he points out key topics for final. POST-midterm questions on final were HARD. He gives review questions for each chapter. Look over them. Even in class example questions were on the final. Text (old edition) helped.

Good prof!! even with his accent a little difficult to understand, his notes are SO detailed! very easy to follow along. I would have enjoyed the class more if exams were based on his clarifying notes rather than the (very dry, and expensive) textbook.
