Horrible is an understatement. Just awful. Dreaded his class every single day. He never shuts up! On top of that he cant teach and makes you feel bad about asking questions.

Rudest professor on campus. He tries to be funny but is extremely rude to students. Mocks the education that we are receiving at El camino. Do yourself a favor and take someone else. I cant stress that enough. Terrible professor

Comment:

Well designed class, overall poor experience due to group. The project is really interesting if you're into the business side of IT. However, if your group is full of slackers, they can and will use the "participation" points, the shared grade, as well as manipulative group dynamics to get you to do most of it, while they pretend to work.

Comment:

I loved his class and he is one of my favorite teachers. Mr. Harris is strict on tardiness; however, after the first few weeks, he does tend to go easier on people if you dont slack off. He definitely does care and is extremely helpful and genuinely wants you to succeed. Just show up and take class seriously and you should be fine.

Straightforward material. Very informative if you enjoy computer-related topics. Neat introduction to Microsoft Access. Class size is huge but he does what he can. Mandatory lecture and lab.

Signed up for this class last minute thinking his class would be difficult to pass, but Im currently passing it with an A! Just study the PowerPoint notes and online exercises/pretests and youll be set for an A. Great teacher and easy content.

Prof Harris is the best IT instructor, period! He's an acquired taste if you're just "cruising for credit." If you want to learn, do your readings and be prepared to contribute. Consider it an apprenticeship in college-level Bus IT, i.e., be on time, be responsible, and be prepared to laugh and learn! Randy applies R/W experience to his lectures.

I loved this teacher. He is straight forward on what he wants in his class. Don't be late, he takes that very seriously. His tests are not hard if you pay attention to the PowerPoints. Books are required. Other than that he is very chill and patient. He is also very funny.

I really didn't appreciate him putting questions on the exams from different chapters that we hadn't gone over yet. 4 lecture exams & 4 lab exams worth 100 ea. so even if you do good on lab or lecture if you do bad on the other portion you're not going to have a good grade. This could have been an easy A but he made it difficult. READ THE CHAPTER!

Lectures were very helpful, the homework given really preps you for what is going to be on the exam. This class is very applicable in the business world. This Professor is great at answering questions and thoroughly explaining the concepts of excel and access databases. Would definitely take him again!

I am reading the comments on this teacher and am appalled. The reviews that bitter students are leaving are absolutely asinine. This is the best CIS professor I've taken. He is VERY CLEAR with what he wants and the idiot who said he isn't patient couldn't be more wrong. He literally answers any question that any student poses and is funny as well.

Randy Harris is a great Professor. He does not give out any homework (unless you count unfinished classwork). He will answer any questions that you have, so don't be afraid to ask him anything. If you take good notes and read the lecture book, lecture tests will be easy to pass. Also, he drops the lowest grade that you have on a test. Show up ^_^

He is one of the best professors i've ever had. He runs his class very strictly and he is really good at teaching. If you want to try hard, you should take him. Lab tests are easy but lecture tests are too hard.

Had him for CIS13 and BUS1A. He runs his class pretty strict, and lets face it, he gets all kinds of types in an intro CIS class. Show up ON TIME, and youll b fine. He'll help u if ur trying. If ur a clown, or want to play on cpter during class, prepare to get checked in front of evryone . Would take again jst to watch him prey on the slackers.

Be on time & not a minute late, literally! He makes smart remarks that are actually kind of rude. He will call on you randomly so be prepared. Talks extremely loud and blames it on people sitting far. Class is pretty simple and easy to understand and his explanations are clear but he doesn't give you time to do anything and jumps to the subject
