Comment:

Very knowledgeable, but doesn't break it down so students can understand. Take good notes. Be a good listener. Make friends and form a study group! IT WILL HELP! Sit in the front, not the back. Labs are more hands on. He is super kind and always accessible. LOTS of extra credit and he always curves the exams, which helps A LOT! Book not necessary!

Good sense of humor but I felt like I didn't know what we were doing half the time. Still passing somehow. Lectures not always the most structured.

professor palmer is an easy-going and very understanding guy. he has lots of information to give so be prepared to take it! i would recommend taking an hour a day to review his lectures, he also gives quizzes often. i'd love to take him again for another class!

BEST PROFFESOR! he is very funny and easy going. I had him for Zoology and biology 11B you still have to study (that is a given) this is still a college so be prepare to learn but it is fun to have him. he will quiz you but that is good since he provides a lot of points.

I have him for life science and during lecture it is very hard to learn. You can't take notes during his class because he hardly writes on the bored but during Lab he is so helpful and will answer any questions you have very clearly. If you are confused w the subject matter ALWAYS ask. He's very helpful. His curved grading system helps tremendously

I had him for Botany, he was a great instructor. The material is hard naturally, but he makes it tolerable. I wish I had him for Bio 3, he is one of the best instructors I have had.

Loved his class. He is SO nice!! I wish I could take more classes with him! Easier than it looks, STUDY, & don't skip class. He's awesome.

I really like Palmer but the class was pretty hard. I probably could have done better if I studied more or talked to him after class. The material is insanely detailed and there is a lot to remember but if you try, you can figure it out. The field trips are really fun, too! I took this class to fulfill the lab requirement for GE, not a bad choice.

Ask questions outside of lecture! He has the patience of a saint; if you're stuck on a concept, he'll take the time to explain it many times without showing any signs of frustration at all, which helps stop me being frustrated at not getting it. Won't give an easy A, but if you're working at it he's fair, and you WILL know the material when done.

If you want an A in the class you must work for it! Studying is a must but the lab test are easy if you attend the lab before because he basically gives you the answers. If you pass the lab tests and do ALL the extra credit you will pass with a B, which isn't so bad. Go into his office hours and take good notes. HIGHLY recommend him!

This professor teaches in an old time hard way, but he makes up for it in being a very generous grader. He will be there to help you, and won't walk away from you when you're speaking to him as another Bio professor woulddid. He is mostly low key and calm which is an extra helpful thing for some of us. This class was Botany.

terrible teacher. tests are very long. if you miss a day of class you just missed a ton of test material. gives a LOT of work and he can be very mean.

Palmer is an interesting guy. I really enjoyed this class but it requires showing up to class and paying attention to sometimes boring lectures. If you want an A studying is mandatory. He curves generously and gives extra credit because there is a lot to remember.

Easy class to get an A and definitely a B in. The lab tests are nearly identical to what he shows in review. Paper you turn in you get full credit, lots of extra credit on tests. Lecture tests are fair but require studying. Very knowledgeable on all things biology, take if you have general interest in subject and want to learn it.

Mr. Palmer is awesome! I admit that I should have tried harder, but he is very understanding and helps you as much as possible to pass the class. He also gives out tons of extra credit, and you also go on 2 field trips. His oral test are pretty tough, but if you study hard you'll pass them. He's a very funny and interesting guy. Take his class!

Comment:

Palmer's great, expert on everything Biology. Lectures are everywhere, but interesting. Everything is testable, even his funny little stories. Lecture tests were ridiculous, very intense studying was nec. to pass. Drill your phylogeny, it'll help. Lots of memorization necessary, 11B is better taken as Botany and Zoology or w/Porteous.Much easier

REALLY hard class to learn with all the definitions and classifications. He requires A LOT of memorization in order to survive the tests (total of 6). Labs were usually disorganized and you have to fend for yourself. Other than that, Mr Palmer gave many opportunities to get extra credit to the class. Take along with some easy "a" classes

Good professor. However, was a hard class. There is a lot of material to cover. His lectures are not the most interesting, but he shares humorous stories. Easy to talk to, and will help you if you need it. Labs are fun. Lab tests and quizzes are easy. Lecture tests are hard. All extra credit is on the test. I recommend him, but put in the effort!

Great professor ask him anything and he will tell you about it he goes over lab tests before u take them so you know most of the answers! Great Teacher took for both Zoology and Botany
