He is a really interesting professor. His lectures are amazing and fun. You only really need the yanomami textbook for the class. If you dont show up the tests are very difficult. Questions aren't always from the PowerPoint but from something he says relating to the PowerPoint.

I loved Dr. Chacon so much! I had no idea what to expect when I started ANTH 201 but he gave great lectures and made our class fun. He makes things very clear and tells you what will be on your exams and uploads all his PowerPoints on Blackboard. I definitely want to take more courses with Dr. Chacon in the future!

WONDERFUL PROFESSOR!!! I was weary due to some of the reviews on here but they were dead wrong. He teaches from the study guide and his exams are exactly what he promised. He posts notes so attendance is helpful for studying. One book to read for a paper that was pretty easy. LOVE HIM, so passionate and very sweet man. DEFINITELY taking him again.

Class is optional, but if you go to the lectures, you'll barely have to study for the tests. If you come to class, pay attention, and don't talk or eat or use your phone, he'll love you and class will be great. He's got a very interesting personality, but is good natured overall. There are 3 tests and an 8-page paper. Pretty easy/interesting class.

Easy A, but hes a giant man baby and throws tantrums if you so much as breathe in the direction of another person. I said 2 words to a friend (literally 2 words) before class started and he proceeded to yell for 5 minutes straight. He has done this to other students as well. If you can prepare for the that then go for it!

Chacon is hilarious and he loves what he does. Throughout class he tells a lot of personal stories and it makes class fun. Attendance isnt required and he uploads all his lectures online. Hes very helpful if youre struggling and offers 3 extra credit opportunities. He HATES talking and whispering and being on your phone so there a big NO NO

His class is content heavy. He gives one week notice before the exams, and they are a major part of your grade. I wouldn't advise taking him if you aren't great at memorizing material.

Loved professor Chacon! While your grade only depends on two exams and paper, he is willing to work with you and there is extra credit! I had him at 8am and while he doesnt count attendance I still liked his lectures. Very funny and passionate about anthropology!

Dr. Rick Chacons Anth 201 Class was great. You dont have to show up to class, because his test are the exact same things as the PowerPoints that are posted online. While you only really have 4 grades (3 test and a paper), he gives a lot of extra credit opportunities! I went to every class, although it wasnt mandatory, and all he does is lecture.

Amazing professor and he loves his job. He's really funny so there is never a dull moment even when you have him at 8am. He only gives two exams, a paper, and a final exam though, but the exams are multiple choice and not cumulative . 10/10 would definetly recommend.

He taught everything that was on the test, and was available both after class and by email if need be. If a person failed his class it is because they did not go and seek his help or they ditched his class every day. He is an experienced anthropologist who tells his stories as he teaches which makes for an amazing learning experience.

Dr. Chacon was an okay teacher.. Attendance was not mandatory so I only went on test days. If you study his powerpoints you will do fine! I made A's and B's on every test and never went to any of his lectures. He even gives you a "30 extra credit points" at the end of the semester. Its hard to fail this class.

The entire class is based off of 2 exams, a final, and an 8 page paper. If you aren't good at multiple choice tests, I wouldn't take him. Study for the exams. Each one of worth 300 points.

This was not a required course I had to take, but I am so glad that I did! The information you learn is exciting and very interesting. Dr. Chacon gives you a Study Guide before every exam and if you complete that, you will definitely get an A. He is such a great professor and I will miss his class greatly!

He is a good man and loves what he does. He is willing to help. But this class is not easy. If you aren't good at test don't take it because this class grade is based off of 2 test, a final exam, and an 8 page paper. Paper is only worth 100 points but the tests and final exam are worth 300 a piece. His lectures are boring to me.

Dr. Chacon is really passionate about anthropology and he certainly shows it. Sometimes he gets so excited that he acts out what he's talking about and it's kind of adorable... He's eager to answer questions and talk with you. The lectures are interesting because he's actually lived in the Amazon with Natives, so he knows what he's talking about.

I was really into the class because I love the subject. The class is pretty easy. He puts the notes on blackboard but I personally think it is important to come to class because he explains the notes and there are videos that may be watched. It is also important to read the Yamamomo (probably spelled wrong!) book too! It's a little boring though.
