The toughest calculus professor at ACC. I recommend him if you want to truly understand the concepts of calculus. However, if you aren't willing to put in the work then your grade will suffer.

Super amazing lecturer, and really smart guy, really knows what he's talking about. Homework load was too much for me- about 2-3 hours every night. If you do well with lots of homework, I would definitely suggest him. If you don't (like me) I wouldn't. Disappointed that his teaching style didn't work with me, or I would've taken him again.

Brian (Richard) Doring is interesting. No doubt he is a far better tutor than he is a teacher. The biggest problem I have with his class is that he just LOADS on the hw... But some weeks we will have nothing due, and sometimes we will have four 3-page worksheets (VERY hard problems) PLUS 60 online hw problems. STAY AWAY. Smart person, very bad prof

He is a great mathematician and teacher who provides good in-class examples, and notes . If you work on your homework and attend class you will understand the concepts as well as ace the test. All tests will have a bonus question too and this guy is good for people who want to learn Math instead of an easy grade. He is always happy to help students

I didn't have an amazing experience, but it was probably because I took Cal III during the summer and he just in general gives out a heavy amount of homework, so I would recommend to take him during the fall/spring semester. Other than that, the tests were much easier than the homework and he knew what he was doing. He's a little quirky though.

He is really organized and cares about students who want to learn. He gives you clear notes and if you pay attention in class and do your homework in time, test will be an ease for you. He is great with what he does and he is one of the the most dedicated Maths teacher I have seen in Austin Community college.

Professor Doring is a great mathematician if you want to learn. He and his homework might be hard but he is always available to help, answer questions he even explains HW in class if anyone asks. First days I thought he is very tough but once you understand him, he is a great teacher if you love Math and want to learn. don't bother if you hate math

Diff Eq is a hard class, but he made everything very clear and doable. We felt very comfortable asking/answering questions. He wrote all required hw (often used on tests verbatim). When a section required a lot of memorization, he allowed for a cheat sheet on that test. He took attendance to encourage it, but didn't dock anyone's grade for it.

He is a really good teacher. Math is not an easy subject and if your goal is to only show up and be on your phone, don't take this class. if you are there to learn and your major involves lots of math, then he certainly is a good teacher for you. Follow every lecture, do your homework and you should easily get A or B.

Take his class if you are CS, Math, or Engineering majors who want to transfer to a top university, such as UT Austin, Rice, etc. Believe me, his class is nothing compared to the similar courses in one of those top universities. You also need solid knowledge in Cal. Don't listen to others who had bad experience with his class. A+ is still doable!

Doring gave lots of homework, however, his tests were based on the hw questions. He explained the material well during lectures and was helpful during office hours. Grades were based primarily on tests and he does not drop any.

Doring makes it nearly impossible to pass trig. The most common test grade is a 54. Study the book intensely and still struggled. You will have to memorize every single trig identity along with unit circle inverse angles identities co functions polar/rectangle coordinates rose curves. finishes the book 5 weeks before class is done in summer semster

Grades hw like a test. Doesnt return hw until the final drop out date to avoid grading papers. No partial credit is given on tests. Always grades test in a hurry. 4 absence drop policy. Lots of notes. Dry. No reviews. You will not need any of the stuff he teaches in calculus. makes u memorize every trig identity including cal 3 stuff. Avoid.

He likes to trick people when asking questions, and they're not very clear. The tests are NOTHING like the homeworks, and he grades both strictly. I took Trigonometry a second time for a higher grade, but it's like his class was a totally different subject compared to the previous one. Would not recommend.

I have aced all my math classes before taking him. I had to drop really early in the semester. You might as well buy a book and try to learn on your own. He doesn't explain the material any further than a book would. His homework assaignments are way different than his lecture materials. He also plays and absurd amount of mind games with answers.

This class should be called "Calc 3 for People Who Already Took Calc 3." I aced all other math classes but was lost in his. Bad explanations & just copies his notes on the board. Had to relearn half a semester of material on YouTube because his lecture was useless. Homework takes all week. Got a B on first test but dropped. Worst prof I've had.

Good person, but I would not recommend him as professor. He doesn't like the textbook, he gives you homework handouts (harder than what he does on his lectures) and the worst part he doesn't give you any reviews for the test. If you are trying to transfer don't take him it will hurt your GPA. I had a 4.0 and after his class it went to 3.6

If your major is engineering and you love calculus then you should take Professor Doring. He will make you work for your grade and you'll develop a love/hate relationship with him. He is the most patient professor I've had the pleasure of learning from. Visiting him in office hours is CRUCIAL to passing the class. Avoid if you are not ready to work

If you plan on learning the material for future use, YOU NEED TO TAKE HIS CLASS!!! Professor Doring set me up for future success, which was the best thing that could have happened to me. I had to work hard for it, but the study skills and work ethic are now permanent. The only thing I would change is that I didn't take him as a professor earlier.

This guy really knows his stuff, almost to a fault. He's not afraid to correct your smallest mistakes, but he's never rude about it. He offers a lot of opportunity for help throughout the semester, and you're gonna need it. Tests and homework are fair, but don't buy the book. He's a really great professor just don't expect to skim by.
