I was enrolled in Dorey's beginner ASL classes for one year. The 1st semester, she was an excellent professor. The 2nd semester was a different story. She became hard and assigned too much work with little to no vocabulary for us to work off of. Her grading was overly tough and she became unapproachable. She is not a bad professor, just difficult.

She's a great teacher but towards the end of the semester just gave us so much.3 one page papers,final video from home,a hand written final with an essay and another separate video final in the labs. Overwhelming.I worked hard for my grade all semester but if you don't do extremely well in the end I guess it doesnt matter. I deserved a better grade

Dorey is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Professor! I had her for 113 & now 114. She explains everything in detail & is happy to go over things again if you don't understand. She expects a lot from her students. ONLY take her if you have a real interest for ASL. If you don't you will not get by easy! She WILL NOT Tolerate BS! Amazing Professor. ASL = <3 xOxO

A lot of work in a short time frame!She has her favorites so make sure your one of them. She has a smug attitude and is somewhat annoying.The classes are so limited as it is and she refuses to work diff hrs or days because of her kids so if another class interferes owell for you.Over all it wouldnt be the worst thing if i had to take her again.

Dorey Houle is the BEST. If you do not understand something, you can ask, she has a lot of patience and is very helpful with explaining. The work is a lot but there is so much to learn, and really if you're taking sign it's because you want to learn and are willing to work hard, so. Down to earth, funny, sweet.. DEFINITELY recommend her!

great teacher very humble and was a pleasure to have her. She makes you interested in the topic you are learning and makes it fun at the same time. This level has A LOT of presentations but she helps you feel comfortable in front of the class. She is available for any help you need and is willing to talk to u as a friend and not a student AMAZING!!

I love her! She is amazing and make the class very intertesting and fun. If your not at all interested in learning the language than dont take the class youll be wasting your time as well as your classmates and professor's. She is GREAT!!!

She is a good teacher but I absolutely hate the way she fingerspells.Her letters look like something she made up herself,its annoying until you learn to get used to it.Alot of work,and she hardly mentions any deaf events and you have to go to 3 required events. She isnt a hard grader and gives opportunities for extra credit.I wish cq taught asl 114

i had another teacher for two semesters prior and was nervous about dorie but she was amazinggg....she wasnt a hrd grader at all and put time aside each class for questions...before class started we always just hung out and talked she is a great person and an amazing teacher!

Please if you could avoid her do yourself a favor....I made the mistake of not going to SJI she is a nightmare I would not take her trust me shes causes headaches,nausa,acne, and stomachaches.....don't do it to yourself to much to juggle with other cources!!!!
