I had Walker his last semester teaching (so they review may be a moot point) and he was great! He comes off crabby, but is really nice. He has interesting views that he works into a clear way of teaching without going off into opinion-filled tangents. Tests were fair and could be done take-home.

I've never worked harder or had more fun. DW is brilliant, with a breadth and depth of knowledge that one seldom encounters today. He cares deeply about his students - the grumpy exterior hides a heart of gold. My best academic experience at Cal were with him. Lots of reading, expects intellectual depth of his students. What education should be.

Dick's grumpy and bored (occasionally funny). Extremely biased, leftist. Never presents the opposite view--produces people with his exact opinions! Reads off of lecture slides, yells at those leaving on time (sometimes hilarious) but ALWAYS goes five minutes over the end of class. Fair grader--just wants to know you've learned--take home finals.

Well,I found professor Walker to be very interesting and smart.However,his GSI was not on the same page with him so the whole class got horrible grades,which he ended up fixing.The topics are broad and you have no clue what the GSI wants you to write for tests.Take home option is nice but doesn't help if you don't guess GSI's mind-never explained!

One of the worst classes I have taken at Berkeley. He just reads off power point slides, completely boring, gives very one sided view of things, leaves out facts that would be inconvenient to his theories. His GSI Katy doesn't know anything about economics, completely useless. His office hours need to be booked a month in advance, very arrogant.

I am surprised at the comments by other students; perhaps Walker has changed in the last year. He is by far the worst professor I've had, completely takes the life out of the subject. He's rude to students and unhelpful when asked questions, and never ends class on time. It's pointless to go to lecture because he just reads his power point slides.

Use notes on tests. Reading is difficult! I did podcast, but attendance would've made lectures more clear. Interesting subject. Geography like you've never known and probably will never get again. Warm demeanor. Likes to teach.

Walker is a quick-witted guy who knows a lot about economic geography. This class opened my eyes to the downsides of globalization and industrialization. There's a midterm and final, both essay questions. There was quite a bit of reading, some of it boring, but the lectures were interesting.

Easy going and laid back guy. Jokes a lot during class. Brings up a lot of great racial issues. However, 8 books were required to be read (and all either quoted him, thanked him, or were written by him). Lots of extraneous information given. Midterm and finals are essays. Take home option is nice though.

Walker was a great lecturer. His lectures were easy to follow and were interesting (if you like racial issues in CA). He makes jokes in class and he is very nature-loving...He will wake you up if you fall asleep in class. His mid-term consisted of two essays, and there were the options of take-home or in-class. Class was great!

Walker makes funny jokes, has a friendly personality, and presents interesting facts. However, I don't like his organization of his lectures. He barely finishes or not at all. He rambles, and his lectures focus on unnecessary details. He lacks focus on specific ideas and include too much info. Exams are essays so be prepared to write.

Left wing radical Marxist that only gives a biased and incoherrent view of CA geography and world politics. He spends most of the time ranting at something, and his lectures are boring and horribly done. GSI more useful than the professor. His book also sucks, which he forces you to read. Easy class
