The case briefs are difficult, so I recommend going to a tutor. Dr. Fong is looking for specific information and will dock your grade significantly if that info is missing. Comment:

I love Dr. Fong as a teacher but not as a professor. Most of the class period he is telling stores or going on a tangent. His tests do not reflect the notes. He does not always answer direct questions. Although he is really funny, the class is too hard to be wasting time. The case briefs are really hard as well.

Comment:

Dr. Fong is very knowledgeable about Criminal Law. He hilarious in his own way and his examples help understand the material. This course is by far the toughest class I've ever taken, but I've learned a lot and have progressively done better. In this class you definitely be challenged, stressed, and want to cry, but if you work hard you'll pass.

Dr. Fong is a great Professor and he is the only one that teaches crim law so you can't avoid him. You have 4 case briefs which are quite a read but the tutors can help a lot there. The tests are scenario based so be ready for that. Be prepaired to sit throughout the whole time allotted because he won't let you out early and he mainly tells stories

he is a really nice professor but his class is hard. the lectures are easy but when it comes to exams, it is mostly scenarios rather than lectures so they are super hard. the professor himself is really into his work and likes teaching I'm sure if one went to his officer hours he would have helped. quizzes every week but based on notes so easy.

Dr. Fong is cool. He really cares about his students and he really wants them to pass. He has a lot of funny stories, but he uses the same ones for every class. Attendance is MANDO. Show up, do your best, and show interest in your work, and you will be fine.

Professor Fong is the best! He will help you if you go to his office hours and he will remember you and even ask about how you're doing. He can be a tough grader but he expects a lot out of his students. He does pop quizzes every week which add up to your final score. He CURVES! Funniest teacher and worth the hard work!

Loved this class! Definitely not the easiest, but if you actually work for it you'll be fine. The case briefs can be difficult, but if you go to his office hours or talk to one of his tutors, you should be fine. Definitely study for his exams pretty much from the first day of class.

I went in nervous because of how hard everyone has said he is. It is not that he is hard, he just really wants you to succeed and pushes you to become "a person of excellence." You must work for your grade. In the end you will agree that you earned your grade and it was not given to you. He is a great professor and you will learn a lot.

I was nervous in taking Courts with Dr. Fong, but it was not as hard as Crim Law. He gives quizzes for every class meeting from the readings of the book and assigments are due weekly. The midterm and final are similar to the ones given in Crim Law. He does not curb like in Crim Law. The final paper is not as bad as he makes it seem.

Dr. Fong doesn't teach to the lowest common denominator. He expects students to figure out how to do the case briefs w/o giving specific guidelines. He asks questions expecting you to be wrong. Just read the cases&have him check your brief in office hours and you'll be fine.

Dr. Fong is a great professor in not handing out easy grades as other professors in the CJUS system wil often do. His case briefs are very challenging but if you come to his office hours he will usually help you. If you put forth the effort he will meet you half way and i really enjoyed taking this class overall. i learned a lot from him.

Excellent Professor. Very smart guy. Listens to his students. Go to his office if you are having trouble with case briefs. This is a tough class, you have to put the time and work in order to pass this class. If I could, I would retake another class from him because I like him that much.

Dr. Fong is wonderful, these ratings are probably from students who just expect their grades to be handed to them on a silver platter. I enjoyed doing the case briefs and if you go to his office hours he will help you get on the right track!! Yes, he might be a difficult teacher but if you do the work you will be surprised how much you learn.:)

This guy is freakin ridiculous. He treats us like we are law school students, no more like lawyers. He never clearly explained this extensive supreme court briefs we were assigned and graded them as we understood everything. His exams were more than tricky... Would never recommend this professor, Im nicer than that.
