Comment:

Very easy class. The tests are only difficult because you don't really know what to study. In the end, if you do all your slide show papers and do well on your project you'll get an A no prob. She spends most class periods showing pictures of her family/vacations. I learned a few interesting things. She is a nice woman who is very passionate.

Her lectures are useless and she spends most of every class showing slides of random things: vacation photos, historic markers. She wastes class time talking about "ghosts of Michigan"! She takes attendence every few days. Take her if you want an easy class but not if you are looking for intelligent lectures.

SUPER NICE. A little disorganized and lectures aren't really that informative, rather skimpy on info. Do one big project on anything in MI (EASY), exams are right from study guides-READ THE BOOK.

Class was very imforative. Lots and lots of slide shows though. She is very nice and helpful. I missed a quiz and she let me take over latter on. Got and A in the class.

I started out not liking her or this class and all the slide shows, stories, and what not. Over the semester came to love her and the class however. Once you figure out how she operates, tests, and so on its fairly easy. Plus tons of opportunities for extra credit. She is a very nice lady. Just study for tests and you should have no problem

Balkam is a wonderful professor. Truly passionate and knowledgable about her topic - though the majority of this class consisted of slide shows. Perhaps my favorite history professor thus far.

Very politically opinionated, which is completely inappropriate in a history class (and any class). Starts class 5 minutes early, lets out late. Exams easy, but someone should tell her to shut her mouth about how much she loves one-room schoolhouses.
