I do not recommend. His lectures are long and boring plus you have to read the textbook to pass the exams. Almost nothing of what he lectures is on the exams. Also the exams are so out dated and ridiculos. Take any other professor for public speaking.

Comment:

I really think he is a good professor. He's passionate about what he teaches and is very knowledgeable. Some things I would fix: he doesn't post the PPTs on canvas until right before the exams, and even then, he doesn't add all of them, so make sure you take notes. Also, some of the test questions and answers are vague. Otherwise, I learned a lot.

Expects too much for a class that most people are only taking because they have to. This class is most peoples last priority and he still treats it as though were all comm majors. Tough grading, annoying class.

Great guy. It is clear he is very passionate about the subject. He does not really expect much, as in the class is literally speeches and tests. Speeches are on whatever topic you wish, very clear on how you will be graded. Tests are not hard, just show up and pay at least a little attention and you will be fine. Book needed but rarely.

If you ask for extra time on an assignment, he will likely give you another day or two. He assigns a lot of homework, mostly 1 pg papers, but they are all stepping stones to your final research paper which makes it MUCH easier to complete the eventual 9-10 pgs. Often schedules no class on Friday in the syllabus! Very understanding & fair.

One of the best comm teachers at Behrend. Helpful and really nice. Kinda quiet but I think it is just his personality. I really like him, he always answers any questions I may have.

What can I say, when you see this professor walking around Kochel he will avoid you as much as possible. I do not know how Behrend recieved this backwoods guy. Very closed minded, and loves for people to praise his pathetic ass.
