Comment:

3 midterms, 2 with essays, 1 paper. Don't go to class unless you actually care about film music, use the book/google for the midterms, and the paper is completely BS-able. I did all the work for this class in the last 3 days and got an A. Would recommend!

Comment:

You don't need to show up to class, not even the first day. Exams can be found through quizlet. However, he has a grad student that grades some of the papers and the grad students acts like she needs to proove that she is knowledgable in music. So, papers are graded a little bit harsher than the past but still not too tough.

This class is a must!!! I took it as an elective and enjoyed every bit of the class. He is super passionate and tries his best to make you Acknowledge and appreciate music and film in different ways. He is also really understanding.

all 3 exams are online, 2 essays and one final essay, very lenient with due dates, you dont *need* the book but it helps, really cool class you get to see different film clips and learn about music in film, super chill capstone, and really nice and funny professor!

Comment:

Much has already been said about what to expect from Hickmans MUS 468 class, but I want to add that the subject matter is incredibly interesting. If you are interested in film even just a little, youll find the topic fun. Every one of his lectures was enjoyable, even if few attend. This was by far my favorite class I ever took at CSULB.

Take this class! I was supposed to have classes Mon-Thurs but ended up only having class Mon & Wed bc you literally DO NOT need to go to this class & this is coming from a very good student with a high GPA! Attendance is not mandatory and all quizzes and exams are online and due LITERALLY WHENEVER you want to turn them in. This class is so chill.

Comment:

Honesty, this was an easy Capstone class for the simple fact that we worked collectively as a class. The prof. was cool, and he assured everyone the first day of class that attendance is NOT Mandatory. However, random attendance will be called for extra credit. Take him for a Capstone class. Best decision I've made. Easy assignments and fun.

One of the best professors Ive ever taken. Attendance isnt mandatory, but I went and it was awesome to see film clips. He is funny and caring for every student. No due dates, everything is due at the end of the semester, if you cant meet the due dates. There should be more professors like him, he cares and you learn in class. Take Him!

Attendance is NOT mandatory, but lectures are fun. All assignments are online and you can complete them on your own time. Everything is due at the end of the semester. Textbook is necessary for online exams. Easy capstone class, highly recommended. Prof Hickman loves what he teaches and makes the class enjoyable.

I never showed up after the first day of class and I got an A. Deadlines are flexible meaning he doesn't mark you late if you turn things in that are past due until the last day of finals. This is a class to take if you are graduating and need a capstone but want to cut yourself some slack your last semester in college.

Best professor ever hands down. He is an easy grader and you dont even need to go this class, which he told us in the beginning of the semester. A very chill guy and will do anything to help you get an A. Paper and midterm and finals are online and is very easily graded. Everything is due on the finals so you have plenty of time to procrastinate.

This was the best class ever. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I showed up anyway because lectures were really cool. Spent class time watching movie clips! make sure to buy the book, because online exams are entirely based off of textbook material. Assignments include three exams (pretty easy), several essays, and two movie projects (also easy).

Best class and professor ever. Although attendance is not mandatory, the steps to an A are simple: Read the book, complete your tests and papers on time. Make sure you have the book because all his answers on the online tests are directly given from it. He also gives you all semester to write your papers so that's a plus. Easiest capstone.

Class is easy A. Tests are online with no time limit (buy the book) along with assignments. You could in theory do all of the assignments on the last day of the semester and never go to class and still get an A, but Hickman is so nice and personable that I would go for the fun of it.

I wouldn't say this class is an easy A. From from it if you are not an actually music/film major. The tests are straight out of the book, but each test encompasses about 70 pages from the book, and are in no particular order. Everything is due at the end of the semester which is cool, but it is a lot of work. The professor is super entertaining

Pretty much the same as the person under me. Classes optional, but I suggest getting the book as most of the tests and essay questions are based off of what he says which are word for word what the book says (written by him lol). I loved that he's passionate about film & music which made the class great and worth attending. I would take him again!

Roger Hickman's music 468 class is great option to take if you need a capstone. You can tell that he really cares about his students, and is very lenient with deadlines. His classes are optional, but I went to many of them because he is a great lecturer and it is cool to be exposed to movies that I probably would have never considered watching.

First day of class is packed, but Hickman leaves the class open. Hardly ever showed up to class, maybe only 3 times all semester (no mandatory attendance). However, the class was interesting when I did attend, but I chose to save gas money instead. 2 exams with essays, 2 project papers, and a final exam. You need the book for the tests. Easy A.

Easiest A of my college career and this class is a capstone. Only went the first week of school and managed to get an A still. Everything is online and he is lenient with deadlines. 3 tests and a few short papers. Attendance not mandatory, but just get book and you'll end up with an A.

Great professor and I found the class interesting. Not that you even have to go to class, since all tests and papers are open book and online. Just make sure you get the book and you'll be fine. Very lenient on deadlines as well.
