All in all, I am going to make this very simple. Professor Fields is by far the greatest paint instructor next to bob ross. She really wants you to do better, and with that being said.. she is willing to help and teach you step by step what you need to do to meet her expectations. She really gave me a different outlook on art- painting specifically

Samantha Fields is has easily become the most influential teacher-figure in my life. I consider her my mentor, as do several (if not, all) of the students in this course. 429 is challenging, engaging, and tough -- but it is perfect for those who want to become professional artists one day. Its hard work, but work that you want to do, trust me.

Fields is an amazing painter, but also very good at teaching and helping students. Very friendly and easy to talk to. I improved so much at painting in that class. There were people in that class who were painting for the first time and walked out with unbelievably amazing paintings! I don't see how you can fail her class or not get along with her.

Best class I have taken at CSUN...my very first oil painting turned out so good that I framed it. Very supportive, but doesn't take any BS excuses...be on time, and come to class. She let you keep working on the paintings after the critique so that you can get a better grade. Her art rocks too.

Sam is SO organized! She does tons of demos and even brings in extra supplies for the students to use. She breaks down the technique so that anyone can learn it, I never thought I could make a good painting, but I did! She IS strict, but she is also very generous and patient. come to class and be on time. Totally worth it tho.

BEST. CLASS. EVER. All of the hater comments are from the lazy know-nothings that failed her class. She's tough, but she teaches what you need to know. If you are intellectually lazy and don't invest yourself in your artwork, you are toast.

Very poor quality! I got into this class because many people told me that it would help me improve my portfolio, but this teacher has skill for kindergarten. Instructor Fields is very condencending when she comes across intelligent questions, which seems a sense of insecurity in her part. There are better teacher at CSUN. Not recommended at all!

The worse teacher at CSUN. Her art is of poor quality and she has a terrible attitude. I don't understand how she got this job...but she sucks! Don't take her class...you will become a mediocre artists...she has no skill as an artist!

Sam is a wonderful teacher, and she's great for making her students experiment, learn to take their art to new levels. My current obsession is thanks to her. However, I feel that she demands far too much paperwork for her 429 class. If you take it, look forward to not seeing daylight.
