Prof Bucking actually works on his own dig site in Egypt (and one in Israel) so if anyone should be teaching this class, it's him! He's so funny and kind to every student, and is very supportive when it comes to getting help or asking questions. All reading materials and sources for projects/papers are given on D2L - super straightforward!

I liked Prof. Bucking's class, it was pretty easy, with just a few papers and group projects/presentations. I took this as a 3 hour night class, and his class is pretty lecture heavy, so my only issue with this class is that he can get a bit repetitive and dull sometimes. But over all he's a super nice guy and the class is pretty easy.

Very nice man but the lectures were too long and boring. I found it so hard to focus in his class. If you take good class notes, you won't even have to read, though. study guide for tests make it easier too. very little hw so make sure you study for those tests! His grading on Artifact Paper is pretty laid back, but you MUST study hard for tests

Dr. Bucking is so nice and funny! I found the class a little boring at times, but once he got into case studies or stories about his own work it was totally worth it. He really knows the topic. The class is pretty easy, so I definitely recommend it for anyone who needs an interesting elective! Two exams, one 5-page paper.

I took this class for a UP credit and really enjoyed it! The professor is an actual archeologist and he's really knowledgeable and passionate about the subject material, he brings a lot of real life examples to the classroom. You also get to work with an actual ancient artifact! Very clear about expectations. Very minimal work.

Professor Scott knows his stuff and presents it to his students in a way that is understandable. It is easy to take the quizzes for granted but they need extra work to be able to get an A.

What an awesome teacher. I don't know how DePaul keeps him around. Very clear on what he wants and expects, helps anyone at anytime, very nice, and knows how to teach. If you have the option to take him do it, you will not regret it. No textbook required, has everything you could possibly need on D2L.

Scott is a wonderful professor all around. He only has one paper due at the end of the quarter and two tests (midterm and final). Just show up to class, pay attention, and do the readings and you'll easily pass with an A. He's also really helpful if you have any questions and is so passionate about his work. Wonderful professor!

Great professor to have to get a history class out the way. One of those teachers who presents the lecture in not some much of a boring way. Gives you everything you need to get an A you just need to follow through. Light work load but you learn a lot really enjoyed this class.

Fantastic in every way. Scott has a lot of energy, and is a blast to listen to. Class goes by very fast because he has so many interesting stories and engages the class regularly. Pay attention to study guides, take notes and your grade will be good. You do need to make an effort in studying for tests, but he is clear what you need to know.

Scott is a very knowledgeable, helpful, enthusiastic, kind professor. He loves what he does, and it shows. He's happy to answer any and all questions, and he's very clear about what you need to know. If you take good notes in class, you don't need to do the readings. Incredible guy; wish I could take him again!

Scott is extremely knowledgeable, and incredibly passionate about archaeology and ancient Egypt. There's a midterm, lab report, and final. Very straight forward. If you pay attention in class and don't do the weekly readings you will pass. My favorite professor at DePaul. Wish I could take more classes with him, but it's not my major!

Take his class! He is a bit jittery (pacing, not making eye contact, etc.) but is incredibly passionate about what he is teaching. You get to handle actual ancient Egyptian artifacts! Doesn't require textbooks and the readings he assigns are interesting and relevant.

He was a great teacher. He was always very excited and energetic about what he was teaching. My only complaint was that he had 3 grades, so if you did bad on one, most likely you'll do bad in the class. However, he was helpful if you needed it.

He is definitely entertaining: he is all over the place and rarely makes eye contact with his students. However, he is extremely passionate about Archaeology. His class was easy and so were the midterm and final. I barely studied and got an A on both.
