Dr. McGinnis is a great guy. But his tests don't line up too well with his lectures. He ended up giving our last two exams a major curve because very few people actually knew what to study for his tests. He's fair and willing to learn from bad tests, but it's frustrating to sit for half of your exams and not know what the questions are asking.

He provides good comments to all papers and offers alternative interpretations not as criticisms but as expositions. He is kind and values input from his students. He enjoys lively discussions and always listens very carefully to whatever anyone has to say.

So first off I have been in church bible classes and bible classes at school my whole life, and I came out with a C. I have also not made a B in a class in my whole life and made a C. He expects large books of the bible to be read before class, has HUGE, confusing study guides and his tests are RIDICULOUS. Definitely avoid !!!!!!!!

Professor McGinnis is an amazing teacher! So enthusiastic and excited to teach, while always bringing outside information to make it interesting, relevant, and to make sure you always learn something new! Yes you will have to read and yes you will have to participate, but who wants a boring class anyway. Get in there and get ready to learn!

So far my favorite teacher at Samford. Definitely take him if you get the chance. Very helpful and personable. Two hour class is seldom boring. Take him.

Dr. McGinnis is great teacher and his class has been my favorite this semester. He is very straight forward with his expectations of you and posts all the discussion questions and where the answers can be found on Moodle. If you do those questions, you will know what will be on the test as well as be able to participate in daily class discussions.

I would not take this professor. Tests were very hard. The final was nearly impossible. He does help you but there is just SO much reading. I come from a strong Bible background and was still very challenged! Take someone else!!!!

I did not enjoy this class. I dreaded going to it. All of my other friends somewhat enjoyed BP and I strongly disliked it. The tests were hard, the classes were long, and we had ALOT of reading. While he is such a nice man, I do not recommend this teacher.

Great guy but a little too much material and its hard to write everything down but he totally knows what hes talking about. and he adds humor to his lectures. i really enjoyed him!

He's pretty hard. Lots of class discussion which means you don't really know what he wants from a reading. Be prepared to spend a lot of time outside of class reading and have useless classes. He's nice but not very helpful. If you don't have to take him then don't. Take a different humanities.

Dr. McGinnis has a good personality and is always open to questions. Sometimes his lectures get a bit confusing and it's hard to take notes from them. Most all assignments and tests are fair except for the final...it's what killed my grade! :o(
