I had Dr. Casmier for Tech, Media and Lit. I thought it was going to be about comparing books to their movies but it's so much more than that. The concepts are difficult, but it is really cool to see what you learn in the class and find these concepts in today's society. He's super passionate and hilarious. 3 papers, only write 2, and 1 rewrite.

Took him for tech, media and lit. One of the best teachers I had at SLU. So interesting! If you like abstract things and conspiracies take this class! Grade based on 3 essays, 1 of which is on the hunger games. Easy grader. Sometimes takes attendance. You get a chance to rewrite one of the 3 essays. Not understanding why theyre bad comments here.

I really liked the concept of this class and I think Dr. Casmier has a great personality. He's funny, real, and shares important messages. However, the class was extremely disorganized. The schedule was not accurate, expectations for readings and papers were not communicated, and the grading breakdown was unclear.

We never followed a single deadline from the syllabus in his class. He's very disorganized and often gets behind. He's very knowledgeable but it's hard to figure out when things are due because the dates are always changing and he doesn't always tell you. We read a total of nine books in this class. They were all good, but it was a lot.

Professor Casmier is super knowledgable and will LOOOVE you if you participate. Took this class (TECHNOLOGY, MEDIA & LITERATURE) thinking it would be about the internet and technology, but it goes way more in depth than I was expecting. This class was unlike any english class I have ever taken so I would recommend if you're willing to work.

If you're interested in thinking and learning, Casmier is excellent. This dude is brilliant, fu has an unbelievable depth of knowledge. HOWEVER he NOT a good match for Type A personalities or people just looking for a credit. He is a little disorganized and runs his classroom nontraditionally, which could throw some people off but adds to learning.

I took his intro to short fiction course but all of his readings were focused on race which got boring after a while. Wish we could have read something cool like sci fi. As a person i liked him, he is smart, interesting, and even though he he might be mean its probably because you are being a dumbass.

RECOMMEND! ALTHOUGH HIS READINGS ARE A BIT INTERESTING YOU CAN TELL THAT HE LOVES WHAT HE TEACHES. A BIT OPINIONATED, BUT WHO'S NOT WHEN SOMEONE QUESTIONS YOUR PASSION. VERY HELPFUL AND MAKES IT TO BUSINESS HOURS EVERY TIME...."A MUST TAKE"

Class is not that hard, but Casmier has an odd sense of humor and is kind of a jerk. Goes off on tangents frequently but class is interesting and he connects subject matter to current movies and stuff. Grading is not hard (he makes it seems like he's a hard grader) but like stated earlier he's not the nicest guy and does remember if you skip a lot.

Took this in the summer. Lots of reading, don't fall behind! Seems kinda racial and does somewhat pick favorites. Not a harsh grader. Sometimes you need to agree with him or else. :) Class is a little boring. Do the papers, but if u need help see someone else. He's useless for advice on your papers. Not really recommended. But I got an A- :/

Not a bad teacher overall. He doesn't assign many papers, and he is usually a pretty generous grader. If you want to do well on them just write about oppressed groups (ie. blacks, women, etc.) He's an obvious liberal and likes to incorporate that into his class. This said, he doesn't force his beliefs on you. I would recommend him.

Casmier assigned many papers but was fairly easy. Other students have rated him as being a tough teacher but he's pretty easy to please. He's pretty disorganized so deadlines are never certain. Do all of the reading (or sparknote it!) and you will be fine! Class participation is necessary.

I have no idea what the people who say he is terrible are on about. He definitely has a different teaching style, which illuminates the subject matter he is dealing with. He forces you to think in ways you never have before, to open your mind by throwing different perspectives at you, but at the same time, he listens. He is an amazing professor!

A little harsh at times but it depends on your personality if you like him or not. Though that is a given for anyone, you'll see what I'm talking about if you take this class. I got a good grade, Thank God, out this class. Just make use of the text when writing. Show him that you're reading and you have a opinion. Great guy.

All I can say is, I wish I would have taken heed to what the previous people have said that gave him sad faces... He sure does have his favorites and let's just say his favorites definitely aren't his own "kind". Gave a ridiculous amount of reading and sure does love to pick on people. I have graduated and glad I'm done with him. DO NOT TAKE!

This teacher is not worth your time. He talks in class, which seems unimportant but then excepts you to incorporate that into the papers you write. He is also rude, argumentative (in the worst way possible), will harshly tell you that you are incorrect, and will interrupt you at any given moment. Would not recommend to anyone.
