Dr. B is awesome. He loves what he does and it really shows. Exams and assignments are straightforward. He even gives little hints as to what will be on them. He wants you to do well. Establish a good relationship with him because he's a great guy to know.

Comment:

One of the funniest and most personable professors in the biology department. Very easy to talk to but very respected guy throughout SUNY cortland as well. Grading is very clear and tests are completely fair. With a decent amount of effort an A is very attainable. Makes the class entertaining even when not necessarily interested in topics covered

One of my favorite professors ever. Study hard for his class and go to office hours when you can they help a lot. The subject material is tough but it helps if you have a passion for biology. Broyles is a great guy to learn from.

Broyles is very funny and passionate about biology he makes the class exciting & relatable to all majors. He makes sure to work around you're schedule if you do not fit his. He's very helpful and knows every student in the classroom he is one of the best professors i've had so far, as long as you put in the work it will pay off .

He is very passionate about what he does but since he is the chair of the department, he doesn't have much time for consultation outside of class. He is not good at explaining concepts and judges you when you don't know the answer and makes you feel stupid. Tests are extremely hard. He expects kids to put at least 3 hours a night into the class.

I love Dr. Broyles! He's definitely my favorite professor here at Cortland. His class is challenging, but if you truly dedicate yourself, study everyday, go to class and office hours, you will pass. You need absolutely need to put in time to this class or you won't get a good grade. Definitely would take him again!

Very nice guy. He will know your name by the first or second class and will notice if you skip lecture. Very tough grader especially on the essay portions of tests. Don't bother taking the class unless you're ready to study hard.

What an upstanding guy! He is one of the most fantastic professors I've met here. He's funny, kind, and truly cares about his students. He makes learning about biology fun, and really teaches interesting material. Definitely one of the best professors at SUNY Cortland, hands down. If you get the opportunity to take a class with Dr. Broyles--do it.

Broyles since day one I knew he is very passionate at what he does, and that is teaching .I aced all the test but for the last one didn't do too hot but he is an amazing teacher and answers all questions with depth .Its important to go to review sessions and office hours .I love this teacher man I wish I had him next semester.

Broyles is an amazing person and professor. He does his best to simplify material to make it easier to understand. 201 is just a challenging course and as a first semester freshman, I wasn't used to the level of studying that was required. You have to study literally every single day. Broyles was always in his office for help whenever I needed.

Dr. Broyles is the best professor I have ever had. He is an amazing, passionate instructor, and a great mentor and friend. His course is difficult, but he makes is extremely interesting. He makes jokes in class and makes it enjoyable. Schedules review sessions and is ALWAYS around to help. Put in all the studying, and you will get an A.

An awesome professor, Dr.B will know your name out of 100 students by heart on the first day of class. Loves sharing his knowledge, loves talking about his garden like literally he has the whole plant species in his garden. He is willing to help if needed. Steve is awesome. My favorite professor at Cortland. He's super intelligent, enthusiastic, and cares about each student. He's down to earth and is always willing to chat about anything. Material is in depth, but explained well. Grades are extremely fair. Assignments are varied from essays, quizzes, discussions, to presentations. Highly recommended.

He know all of his 80+ students by name and is always available for help. His teaching style is awesome and you can always count on him for a good laugh.

Broyles is the man. He is really fun and loves the what he does. He knows a ton and loved to share it all. Tests are hard but if you study it is fine. YOu have to work and you will have no trouble getting good grades. He is one of the best teachers I have had the pleasure of having.

I have always had a great love for Biology and after not doing well on his first test he told me college was not for everyone... Needless to say I passed (and did fairly well in) his class despite his lack of help.
