Took several classes from him. He is a wonderful professor. You should definitely take his classes if you want to pursue your career in Civil Engineering especially Structural Engineering. You can always ask him question, even if he is busy, he will drop it and help you with your question. Do your homework, you will do well.

Reinforced Concrete Design - Dr. Leftwich is very patient with his students if you like to learn. Ask question after class if you don't understand. Expect lot of homework from him, and do your homework (no shortcut). You will do well in his class. He is inspirational.

Fluid Mechanics - Dr. Leftwich is very patient with his students if you like to learn. You can always ask him questions after class, he would take time to explain and help you understand. There is no stupid question if you want to learn. Expect lot of homework from him, do your homework (There is no shortcut). You will do well in his class.

Dr. Leftwich covers very confusing material with very good presentation, and gives very difficult tests. If you pass his class you will be competent. He treats people better after they pass their first class to him. When I had this class 1/3 where repeaters, 1/2 of us first timers passed, the other 1/2took it the following semester.

Up side: very smart, competent professor. Down side: he's the most arrogant professor in the Civil dept. If you happen to understand the material, great. If not, then in you're in trouble. He will make you feel like a piece of s***. He hates giving help, and if you have a 89.9% in the class, you have a B.
