This teacher must grade hard because of all the students that take o-chem thinking they are going to be doctors most get a rude awaking. He is an awesome individual if you take time to get to know the information and him. Go to his office hours and ask intelligent questions, silly one get him angered. ANd always work hard.

Grades are 85,75,65,55. Labs are easy. There are 3 exams which are doable. Study the practice problems and read the book and you'll be fine! Quizzes are a bit tough (4-5 of them). few written lab reports at the end, overall I believe he's a great prof. Take him if you want to learn and enjoy o-chem... book mandatory.

Answers questions rudely, mumbles so it's hard to hear. His glaring makes the atmosphere uncomfortable, makes people feel inferior, doesn't hold back in humiliating you in front of peers, constantly leaves the lab, making it hard to ask questions if you were brave enough, briefly mentions test materials to some classes but not all, won't help you

Dr. Berryhill is knowlegable. If you pay attention to his lectures, note all the things he mentions, and study for them, you will understand the material pretty well. Some parts I didnt understand and asked him as we finished class early, he helped me to figure out the problems by myself without spoonfeeding.

I went to his office hours to ask him for advice because I wasn't doing so well in the class and he straight out told me that I should of been smart and dropped the class within the first two weeks. I told him that I worked and he went off about how students are so naive thinking they can go to school and work. NOT approachable. I dropped.

He is very unapproachable. He makes you feel dumb when you ask a question. I'm going to you for help, not for you to make me feel feel like an idiot.

AWESOME professor. Very good lecturer and he's very good at getting concepts through to you and into your brains. Unless you're the pothead that has no idea what's going on.... Wish he taught Chem 220B....

I'm not going to deny what other people have said; Berryhill is probably one of the tougher OChem professors you'll ever encounter. Having said that, he is a very detailed instructor. He wants you to know your stuff and will take time to make sure you know the material. Look over class notes and do the homework if you're lost. This class is doable!

I feel he expects you to already know everything he is lecturing on. You need to read the book for his class. Simply taking notes will not be enough for exams or quizzes. Exams are fair. Read book and work through problems throughout the chapter, as well as the homework he provides. O chem is A LOT of work. Be prepared.

He is extremely smart, know his craft better than most. However, don't expect him to bottle feed you everything you need to know. Be prepared and don't ask stupid questions. Go to his office hours before lab if you do not understand something, he is very approachable. Overall, one of my favorite professors.

He comes off a little mean to students when you ask questions in class. His tests are challenging, but doable. The subject itself is tough, but his grading makes it worse. Be prepared to prioritize this class and study like mad for it. This class is no joke. An A is not impossible, though.

The BEST chemistry teacher I've had so far. Along with going over the main points, he EXPLAINS the MECHANISMS rather than other teachers that merely focus on rote memorization. Lovely curve and pretty funny~ It's comprehensive though. So if you barely passed gen chem, stay away from ochem. Heck, stay away from the science majors entirely.

It's a hard class and he knows the subject very well but doesn't do a good job in making sure the class follows what he's saying. Stay on top of the reading, do all homework problems, and give yourself plenty of time to study and I'm sure you'll succeed.

His class is indeed difficult. He makes sense during lecture, but I had trouble understanding the relevance and continuity of what he was explaining at any given moment. Don't take notes much. Just listen and then go back to the book. Quizzes are harder than the tests! He is definitely intimidating but he's a cool guy if you get him alone and talk.

If you have the opportunity, take Lopez instead. His lectures were extremely hard to understand and useless other than to give you a bearing as to what you should read and study on your own. But don't skip class, there are pop quizzes! Makes you feel stupid for asking questions and isn't afraid to embarass you in lecture.
