Super nice teacher and extremely helpful! She made class fun. Never had a teacerht that smiles and laughs as much :) Very passionate about Spanish and wants her students to succeed. Be expected to talk regularly in class if you want a good grade though.

I loved her class! Profesora Botero is knowledgeable, friendly, and fair. She made learning Spanish fun and is always willing to help. She's not too hard of a grader, but the Wednesday assignments are rough.

Professor Botero knows her stuff. She definitely has students that she likes and dislikes and it makes a difference. Don't under estimate the first test and prepare to make time for Spanish to master the concepts, it is 5 HOURS after all.

The class isn't that hard, but the Wednesday tasks take forever. Class time is mostly spent on culture and asking stupid questions to your partner. She is a fairly easy grader, esp. on oral exams. She's really friendly and thinks she's hilarious. Go to class b/c sometimes she brings Krispy Kremes.

She is very nitpicky with her grading. Thus, understanding the material is not enough. Little assignments count almost as much as the big tests/conversations. She's the type of teacher that wants you to repeat yourself for the sake of having a lot of sentences. The material of the class, however, is not very hard if you took spanish in high school.

I don't know who these other people are rating, but she is amazing! Beginner Spanish is standardized, and she is BY FAR the easiest grader. I get 100s on all the writings despite my mistakes. She is really interested in all of her students. You don't have to do the homework. It is really easy to pull a B+/A- in her class, which is hard at VU.

She is great. If you really want to learn the language, she is very good at building the base for the higher spanish courses. Wednesday assignments can be lengthly and time consuming, but are really the only homework you turn in. she is also often fun in class and makes learning spanish more enjoyable.

Professor Botero is not the nicest person in the world. She is very defensive when it comes to her grading, and her classes are unhelpful - you learn the info on your own and get tested on it in class. She picks her favorites early on and if you're not one of them, watch out.

this lady is ridiculous. you can do really well on tests but still do poorly in the class. she never tells you when homework, which is a huge part of your grade, is due (instead randomly posts on blackboard) and accepts nothing late for any partial credit. she is a total **** and a miserable teacher

if you are taking spanish to satisfy axle, take it from another professor. not all that helpful and can be pretty rude at times. and yeah she is really nice, if you are one of her favorites. if you aren't then you are basically screwed.

Lecturing and classes seemed fairly easy. Then again I took spanish in HS so it might've been harder for others. Does assign a fair amount of busy work and random assignments, so other classes might be easier if you're looking to fulfill CPLE. Occasionally goes on a socialist rant which is amusing.

Absolutely great - okay, I know you've read all the others about her being terrible, but those are mostly likely from those who aren't learning the language to learn it - not to just get another A. She goes out of her way to help you, and if you take her, be sure to go to her office hours - she loves for students to do that.

Good professor. Very nice, makes the class fun. Easy to understand when she speaks Spanish. Not a hard class, but class time is spent mostly on book exercises and culture, so if you don't study grammar and vocab on your own you won't do well. Lots of work, but you'll know what to expect for each assignment and it's possible to make an A/A-.

she is too fair--if you try and talk to her about why you got something wrong on a test she becomes overly defensive because she has the mentality that "she is never wrong"--she gives a lot of busy work that is totally pointless...i would not recommend her and if you can switch out of her class i would do so

She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had in my whole life. I am disappointed in the foreign language department at VU becuase of her. She is an impossible grader, she never gives a grammatical lesson during class either. DO WHAT YOU CAN TO GET ANOTHER TEACHER FOR THIS CLASS!!!!
