Comment:

I've seen a handful of negative reviews and I don't understand them. She expects a level of base knowledge going into this class but, it is only concepts that were covered in high school. She always used class time effectively and ensured we never took an exam unprepared. She even spent extra time in unit 3 for the students who were having trouble.

Comment:

In her two semesters, I repeated her class because I had F's in her quizzes and her first regular exam in my first try, but in my second try I passed all her quizzes with higher grades, but her two regular exams, I did not do well but I passed her regular exams. In her final exam, I did not do well but I passed her final exam.

Comment:

She can be unclear in her lectures. I learned more from the hw then from her sometimes. Write everything down including hw problems b/c the same questions are on the quizzes and tests. She runs the class pretty straightforward. I never used the book, just the my mathlab. I never had an issue with her personally, but my class didnt care for her.

Comment:

As someone who is not particularly bad at math and but neither very good at it I struggled a lot, her method of teaching is to basically write the notes on the board. You know the problem is the prof and not the students when 1/3 of the class withdraws and half of the remaining students receive a D or lower.

My class seemed to dislike Mrs. Surasky for some reason. I thought she was fine. The class wasnt too hard but she did move really fast with lectures. It could be difficult sometimes to get all the notes down. Overall not too bad. Do the online math labs and youll be fine

Comment:

Don't take her if you want an easy math. She doesnt explain anything and then she gives you quizzes on things you haven't even learned about. Im not too bad at math but she is horrible

The class itself was difficult for me because I struggle with math. But let me tell you that this women could not have cared less. She's very much a professor who thinks that if you can't keep up and understand the material, then that's your problem. Super unhelpful. Kinda mean. Made me feel really stupid all semester.

Would not take a class with her again.... Writes problems up on the board to do and then come exam time its like its not even the same material. Would put a problem up on the board tell us to "work" on it and then go and sit on her phone for 10 minutes. Was not a fan of this professor, didn't seem engaged whatsoever

She was a great , caring teacher. She was my last option and turned out to be the best math teacher I've had so far. Don't be scared of the other reviewers. Shes laid back and very straight forward. She really wants you to pass. Keep going up to her and ask your questions. It's not an easy A but for a math teacher. She's wonderful !

Terrible teacher don't take her. She writes stuff on the board and then makes you figure it out yourself and when she DOES decide to teach you, its totally different on the exams. Best advice I have if you are stuck with her, is to teach yourself everything. I will never take her again.

WORST teacher ever. horrible grader, hard teacher, talks down to students, not easy to talk to, moves WAY too fast, unclear with directions, does not respond to emails or texts, does not offer extra credit. will never take her again. worst math teacher ive ever had.

I absolutely will never take her . Also her instructions on test are not clear, and is a very difficult grader if you put a comma in a logical number and she doesn't want it she will count it wrong. She writes a lot of notes, and moves on fast without waiting to see if everyone is done and if they understand.

She was willing to help when needed, and let us use note cards on some quizzes and tests. Overall, great teacher. Moved a bit fast but if you don't understand a concept the homework on MyMathLab helps a lot.

I haven't taken a math course since high school (2 years ago) and was scared I was going to fail a college level math course. Although Contemporary Math was an easy course in general, she made it sooo easy. Just show up to class, take notes, and pay attention. My quiz grades were all 100% except for 2. Awesome professor!
