Professor Ho is a nice guy. Class material is challenging, but doable. SI gave good practice material that saved me on quizzes and exams. Book helped with nomenclature and that's about it, waste of money. HW is not mandatory. Lectures are fast paced, note heavy, and boring at times. Final exam was HARD. It dropped me from an A to B. Upsetting.

Really nice and helps you with lab and lenient on grading. He helps you understand challenging topics like NMR and IR and will help you pass the class. Compared to others, he's probably the best instructor for this class!

He's such a down to earth guy and he really knows what he's talking about. He made chemistry more understandable by using simple terms and telling funny stories. He does get sidetracked every so often, but it's in ways that make the class more fun and interesting. He is willing to help you outside of class, though many didn't make the effort.

Professor Ho is great, his lectures are always funny. SI saves your grade. He made O CHEM doable. You will have to work, but it's not as scary as you've been told.

There is a language barrier which makes him hard to understand. Expects perfection on ALL tests or it is ALL wrong. If you use a calculator, he will INSULT you for using it! Saying you will get Alzheimer's! Will insult you for not understanding "basic" algebra equations! He has wonderful handwriting, but that's it. Stay away from him!!

Took him at SAC. He is a funny guy, but the language barrier and his style of teaching makes it so that you have to learn the class on your own. His tests are straightforward tho, there were 2 tests that were EXACTLY like the practice exam he posted, just with different #s in the questions. There's a ton of EC tho, if u try hard you'll do fine.

Good lectures. Best chemistry professor I've had. Willing to help you out if you go to his office hours and he also gives good advise. 3 tests, a final, and no homework. There are also quizzes once in a while that cover textbook material rather well. I suggest reading the textbook before class to understand what he quickly goes over in lectures.

I had him for orgchem lab. Hes very helpful and will guide you through the experiment unlike most lab instructors. Quizzes are hard so make sure you do the prelab, write down every detail into your note. During lectures hell tell you what questions he would put on the final. Write down what he put on the board to get full point for notebook check

How to succeed: take the SI course, focus on what he writes on the board, and watch youtube videos if you don't understand. The SI course tells u exactly whats on the quizzes. If you did well in CHEM111A, you won't have much trouble understanding this class! There's a free PDF of the textbook somewhere on facebook. 4 test, 7 quizzes/CURVED CLASS

Nice guy, but his lectures were all over the place. He doesn't have clear organization, your grade is only based on quiz and test scores, and his sense of humor is questionable at times. Go over your exams after you get them back and make sure all the answers are correct; he sometimes makes mistakes on his answer key

He's a super sweet guy but he is really hard to understand. I also thought he focused too much on lectures. A lot of concepts in the book were not even tested, just the ones he lectures about which was really bad for my learning style. I recommend going to his office hours to ask questions. That's when I found him to be most helpful.

He is a good choice for a lab professor. If you need, he'll help you with the experiments along the way. The jokes that he makes in his lecture helps you remember things for lab. I think he's an easy grader for reports, but his quizzes are a little harder. Make sure you do the practice final that he gives out. Trust me, it helps A LOT.

He's funny and very nice in office hours. Other than that, this class was pretty bad. The lectures were all over the place and this class really lacked structure. As someone else said, you basically have to rely on youtube vids. The book sucks, and the homework problems aren't helpful for his tests. I would say avoid, but he only teaches it.

Most of class was failing throughout the whole semester. Averages on tests and quizzes usually F's. I was lucky and got a B because I sat for hours watching Youtube videos. DO NOT BUY BOOK OR DO THE HOMEWORK. Waste of time and money. Just go to class & look up videos on Youtube of how to do each topic. THAT is how you pass and how everyone else did

While I am not doing terribly in this class, it has been a struggle throughout this semester to get a clear answer of what is expected of me as a student. He will lecture on something for a few minutes but then it will be emphasized on the exam more than other things he seemed to cover more. Also he wastes time trying to make jokes

Had him for both lab and seminar. His accent makes it difficult to make out his words sometimes. In both lab and seminar, he usually expects you to know what you're doing, go at a fast pace, or otherwise work it out with your friends. While he can sometimes be confusing, he is also genuinely understanding & can teach chem well. 5 bc he is hilarious

Best lab professor I've had. He explains labs at the beginning of each new lab and gives you a quiz which is open notebook so make sure you're doing your pre-lab before. He uses funny analogies to help you understand and makes lab fun. He is always there to help you understand and set up if you are having trouble. Wish I was taking him for 223B.

Mr. Ho is hilarious! I had him for lab and seminar and he was the best! He really wanted us to succeed and told us what he wanted for our labs. Seminar was great because he really wanted to make sure we understood the problems and pop quizzes.
