I took this teacher a few yeras ago and I am back at Long Beach to finish my degree. mason is a really bad teacher. He tries to charm naive students by talking too much about himself though other teachers don't think muh of him. His exams were hard and irrelavant to his lectures! He speaks with a funny British accent.

This was THE HARDEST class i have ever taken! He is a great professor but his exams are too hard and he expects too much! I would not take this class with him again. Its impossible to get an A.

You really should take the SI class for it. His tests are very tough (some people walk out when they see it) but they need to be to prepare you for med school. If you can't get into SI, talk to people who are in it. I really enjoyed Dr. Mason's lectures and it revealed a lot about the natural world. Study, memorize and ask, so you can get an A.

Dr. Mason is the BEST BIOLOGY PROFESSOR at Long Beach! He is really passion about what he teaches to the class. Although his exams are difficult essay questions you will really learn in this class. Great for preparing you to take the MCAT. Just work hard and it will be all worth while. He is also pretty funny.

Memorization is key!If u get stuck on tests,start drawing diagrams.Tough as nails.Graders r terrible.Very solid instructor.Just understanding the book may get you a C.Need World of the Cell to have a shot at an 'A.' Lecture notes have a lot of his own added info.U WILL know your material when u're thru with his class.Exams are all essay.

Brilliant Professor, people always rip on him cuz hes difficult, and he is, but he pushes students to see if they are up for the challenge or not....basically if you take him, work as hard as you can and it'll pay off in the long run...he teaches you how to WORK....did u pre med students think being a doctor was easy? welcome to college

HARDEST CLASS EVER! mason uses powerpoints to teach which does not help you on the exam...basically if you want an A take SI, talk to someone who has taken his class before for essay questions (all his exams are esssay based), and MEMORIZE the freakin book (figures, charts, n words!) i would not take him!!!

This Professor is really hard. And his grader is much harder than him. The power point lectures have nothing to do with the exams and the book is huge to study from it. His lectures are not helpful at all and everytime he gives us an exam he says it is "the easiest exam ever" and it ends up most people failing the test. Don't take him.NEVER!!!!!

Dr. Mason is very charismatic and he is a brilliant man. However, the class is extremely difficult. The class itself has no structure and no matter how much time you will spend studying for the exam it will never reflect on your grade; yup they are that hard,and VERY VERY time consuming. Taking this class is like taking two 5 unit courses together!

very hard teacher, but brilliant! and might i add, pretty good looking!take SI because he knows almost exactly whats on the tests and it helps soooo much. easy to pass but hard to work to get a B and really hard work to get an A. grader is pretty leniant so go to him and he'll most likely give extra points

man can this guy give a test. when done with his tests you'll feel like you got the bleeeep kicked outta you. passing the class shouldnt be a problem and getting a B should be more difficult. Getting an A requires looooots of hard work and probably some luck. tests could be easier but i think he chooses to make them hard.

He's great at covering & explaining the material but there's A LOT A LOT A LOT of information. He said to know this & that for the exam but the exams are "answer 3/4 Qs." the Qs cover 3 specific events from the many chapters covered. most students don't finish in time. to prepare, need to know everything WELL! & in DETAIL to pass. Passing > 60%

Whoever said he's hard to understand b/c he has an english accent is a retard. The guy is clear, but very demanding. You must put in work to get an A. Go to every lecture, read the text, and cram the night before the tests--which are difficult--and you will do well.
