I took Prof. Bowers for an undergrad 400 level about brain functioning. Very challenging & engaging material. The topic is difficult, for me reading and attendance was essential for me. In addition I went to the Biology tutor for some extra help. He is fair & available to help you. Fair in grading will curve & offer extra credit.

Dr. Bowers is TERRIBLE! He mumbles, and speaks the whole class yet manages not to say anything. If you want to do well you HAVE to read the book. He only gives 2 tests so there is a ton of material on them so pace yourself with reading. If you have the online portion I didn't watch any of it and still got an A. I relied on info from other classes.

I did not like this professor. He would not respond to e-mails. Also, he would not listen to you if you disagreed with something he said. He essentially mumbled to himself all class (I couldn't hear him.) Three days before class he decided to change text books and then he ended up testing us essentially on the last book anyway. I was disappointed.

I was very disappointed with this class. I was really looking forward to learning about depression, eating disorders and other abnormal psych topics. Lectures were just that - lectures..no class interaction. Tests were difficult. There were several class members who talked through the entire class which he never addressed. Would not take him again.

He is a really nice guy and avoids confrontation. There were a group of kids that would talk loud during the entire class and he wouldn't say anything (a little annoying). His tests are pretty hard and will add a lot of info he doesn't cover. If you put in the work and read the book you will do well.

This class was not as hard as others made it to believe. The lectures were boring, but the mid term was straight forward, and I ACED it. Overall I got an A- out of the class. The only problem is clarity, and his lectures. Other than that he's an okay guy.

In one word: esoteric. Haha. That's his description of everything. He's very disorganized, unclear, and doesn't relay information to students well at all. He's very intelligent, but he can't share that knowledge well. You can get A's though.
