Very boring lectures. Also seems like he tries to get you to agree with his points of view; so much for objectivity. Take very good notes, his exams are completely based off them.

Funny guy, good professor. I would recommend coming to class and asking for clarification if you can't read his handwriting.

pretty great teacher. hilarious and makes things interesting. gives great examples and practice problems. he lays out the tests for you...and they are open note/open anything. BEWARE, this is a class that you either get it or you don't. if you don't, there is always a tutor available. Take this class for a GPA boost!

I thought Logic102 would be alright, but he has horrible handwriting (doesn't even write words, just scribbles). It's important to have good handwriting for logic to understand what's going on. He moves way too fast. Most of the class is always lost. Funny and friendly guy, but take it from someone else or take a different GUR if you can!

Class was overall pretty easy. You do a lot of practice problems in class so it is helpful to go, but not mandatory. The homework assignments are easy and he goes over them in class. Make sure you do them because they're easy points. There are only two tests which are fairly easy if you understand the homework.

He's a really good teacher and a nice guy. The class isn't very hard so if you go to class and do you hw problems (he gives like 3 a night, if that), it's an easy A.

I am a linguistics student and took Philosophy of Language having not taken any extensive philo classes. He is a funny man with great anecdotes I enjoyed listening his lectures, I really liked him! The essays are hard but put effort into them and he is very understanding with his grading. I would def take a class from him again.

Do not be fooled by the first test. This class is tough, but do-able. Doing the homework helps, its assigned everyday, be prepared for that. He goes fast, says he'll slow down when it gets harder, he doesn't. Just go to class and take good notes.

This professor was pretty good. He was funny and cracked jokes on a regular basis. He knows the stuff he's teaching, maybe a little too well because sometimes he moves a little too fast. He needs to slow down at times. As long as you go to class you should be fine though. Very nice guy though, I would recommend him to everyone

I loved this class. He's really funny and knows his stuff. You need your book for some hmwk, but you don't have to read it, he goes through everything in class. (It's important to attend class for comprehension). He uses lots of examples to get his point across. Class is a couple hmwk assignments, a midterm, and a final. I think it's an easy A!

Downling is by far in my top 2 for best teachers at WWU. It is mandatory to attend class becuase he does go a little fast and his hand writing is horrible... But he knows his stuff and understands that students have busy lives so he makes tests open book and open note. Take this class it's super easy and Downing is hillarious.

Great QSR - Downing knows most people don't like the subject and has a sense of humor about it. Funny guy and pretty good at explaining, class wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Tests were open book/open note... You still have to go to class, but it's not so bad. Too bad it's at 9am.

TAKE LOGIC WITH THIS PROFESSOR. He is clear, helpful, and excited about the topic. GO TO CLASS and do the homework. Don't rely on the fact that the tests are open note.

He is a real nice guy but DO NOT take INTRO TO LOGIC. It's like learning another language except crazy symbols that make no sense. Seek help from the beginning if you do take it! One midterm, homework, final.

Downing is awesome! He's so funny and does his best to help. He also lets you use notes on exams. The only thing is he's kind of clumsy and it's annoying when he's standing in your way so you can't copy down the problem. He also goes pretty fast so you have to try to keep up. Otherwise, he's a great teacher.

Great Prof and great class! Very funny and likable and makes the subject easy. Definitely recommend this class. Grade based on midterm and final and homework. Very simple if you go to class, pay attention, and understand whats going on. If you get lost ask for help or you will be the rest of the quarter.
