I told Prof Ellis upfront that I had a learning disability and no experience in acting or public speaking. Instead of accommodating me and figuring out easier ways for me to learn (like other profs have done), he managed to embarrass me in front of the entire class. Doesn't care about students, it's all about him. Quickly ran the other way!

If your cell goes off, the whole class gets points taken off their grade. One absence can result in an "F". Also, he isn't very helpful, expects you to already know how to do everything. Take drama classes with somebody else if you can!

You can only miss one class period to get an A. His class is broken down in 100 points. Class participation is a must and you never know when he is going to pick on you. If you get a question right, you get one point. Really easy class though. If you read, you will pass. Cannot be any easier than this for a GE :)

Ehhh. As a requirement course, it wasn't too bad. Know ahead of time that you WILL BE picking scenes to direct from your top ten favorites list. So... Be sure to pick good films and plays, that are most importantly accessible. I didn't have an offensive experience, but that doesn't mean someone else hasn't. Best of luck!

Prior to taking this course, I had a passion for theater. However, this instructor killed all of my enthusiasm. He is the worst excuse for a theater teacher ever! Very egotistical and arrogant. It's never about the student, but always about him. Horrible! Ran quickly the other way.

Prof. Ellis makes his lecture a bit entertaining. His exams are not difficult, altho it is kinda tricky. Attendance is a MUST to get an A. You must also participate in all class discussions to receive a grade of B or Higher. I looked forward to his class every week!! ..and I recommend you to take him if possible.

I enjoyed this class very much, although the participation requirement was a bit too subjective. If he thinks that your comments on other students scene are brilliant you will receive full points, if not you're screwed. He also spends his time listening and not watching the scenes you are graded on so he misses important elements most of the time.

One the BEST classes i've have ever taken at CSUF. Ellis made the class very interesting. He is very funny and witty. I enjoyed that class from the first day til the last day. I recomend this class if your the type who will speak up in class. warning! this guy cusses a lot, if you get easily offended, don't take this class.
