I have Shevory for my House of Cards seminar. He's very knowledgeable about politics and engages in interesting discussions about the show and other readings. But lectures aren't the most interesting sometimes and he assigns a lot of reading; we have three huge essays and many group discussions. Knowledgeable professor, but could be better.

Had him for the honors course The Politics of Hamilton. Pretty nice guy, but the class could be boring often. We did a lot of talking about the same things in the same way. He assigned a lot of reading per class, but you didn't always have to read all or even most of it, because he will do a lot of the talking if you let him. Decent class overall.

When it comes down to it, Tom is a great professor. He knows A LOT about politics and is always willing to help. True, the amount of reading is semi-preposterous at times, but you get a lot out of the class.

Professors like this man are the reaon I came to college. I cannot stress the depth of Tom's knowledge, he is so in tune with people of all generations and demographics and has made a lasting impression on my academic career and very possibly my life.

Shevory is an amazing teacher. The textbooks required in US Politics (seven of them...wow) may be a little overbearing at times, but they're very useful in writing papers. He provides a full page of feedback on them, and you learn how to improve your arguments from that. Take US Politics with him if you're interested, even if it's at 8 AM!

He is very interesting to listen to, and much of the reading is interesting, though there is a lot of it. He's a really smart guy and encourages lots of discussion and debate. Take this class!

this sums up how cool this guy is: i wrote my term paper on the politics of rage against the machine. he not only had numerous great comments, he gave me an A on it, AND he knew just as much about the band as kids our age. he's also really funny.
