I took this as a blended course, lectures and readings were online. We met in class and we did a quiz and a journal each week based off the assigned readings. Our tests were online, including our midterm and our final. Very clear material, easy assignments if you read.

I took a blended course. It was super convenient to only go to class two days out of the week and then have the rest of the material online. Be prepared to read online lectures, and then spend about 45 minutes total in class during a typical week.

I took HIST121 with Gutzke last semester and dropped right away, took it online with Miller and loved it! It's all written lectures but he explains everything really well and usually will add some light humor/his own input which keeps things interesting. Weekly journal and quiz on short readings. The exams match the lectures perfectly, no tricks!

This class was entirely reading. Lectures and readings were uploaded onto blackboard and were incredibly difficult to follow. There are so few points available in the class that if you mess up on a quiz, exam or journal, your grade will be destroyed. Overall, this class was much harder than it needed to be.

I have taken 4 classes taught by Dr. Miller. He provides most of the readings so no textbook. You usually have to write at least two book reviews (you get to choose the books from a provided list) and his tests are essay, but he gives you all of the possible questions a week before. I do wish that he provided more feedback on papers.

I took a blended course with Miller. He required us to show up to class mon/wed for about 20 min - we would take a quiz and write a journal and then we would leave. He put all of his lectures online and had tests online so it wasn't hard. Pretty easy A and I'm not great at history.

I took HST 121 online and all he did was talk about how much he hates America. I would fact check his lectures and find things not even historically accurate. Throughout the course he didn't say one good thing about America and all he did was slander it with misleading information. I found myself wondering why he lived here if it's so horrible.

Took a blended class. He's a pretty easy going guy and can be funny at times. Test and quizzes are online so they are easy. Attendance is part of your grade so you need to show to lecture one day a week for 35 min. Project and essay are straightforward and easy A's.

Dr. Miller let his assistant take over the course which was really annoying. He never responded to emails in a timely manner. Quizzes/tests are impossible to take by yourself, but you do get 2 attempts. Grading wasn't very clear when it comes to the essay and journal. He doesn't show points in BB, just percentages. Personally I would not recommend.

Loved this professor! He made the lectures as interesting as possible, no textbook just him. Guidelines for every week were very clear. Gave you two chances on each quiz and test. Quite a bit of work but if you plan your time out well you won't get behind. Would take him again!

I took HST121 as a blended course and I absolutely loved it. Once a week we'd meet for 35 minutes. All the work was online, including lectures and exams. Dr. Miller wrote all his lectures and they're fun to read as he throws in humor and ways to relate the situations to yourself. Dr. Miller is very kind and passionate about what he teaches.

This class was easy if you have 2 other people to take it with. You get 2 attempts on each test and quiz which is worth over 70% of your grade. Don't take it by yourself. The historical characters essay was graded harsh but nothing else was. Journals suck but are graded easily. Easy A if you take it with other people! AND no textbook!

Dr. Miller I took for history 121 as a blended course, meaning we showed up for class for 30 minutes a week and did all of our homework online. Literally one of the easiest and most interesting history class that I have ever taken. If you took AP or IB in high school, this class will be a breeze. Highly recommend this blended course!

No book, he's basically a revisionist historian. It's like he wants to blow your mind by saying things contrary to popular belief. All of the "lectures" are poorly constructed wikis and the only time you'll need them is for tests. Get a buddy, because those suck. Quizzes usually on primary readings. Pay your fee and get your C...

Very unclear and difficult to understanding. He uses no textbook and just vague lecture notes, no power points. The quizzes and tests are almost impossible to receive an A on due to the fact that non of the material is covered in the notes... Google everything! Very nice man buy overall I learned nothing about history all semester.

Dr. Miller is a little hard to hear sometimes, he presents material that is alittle unclear. Thank God for Google...No textbook, had to appear in class and pay close attention. Very difficult to pass with an A grade

Online class, no textbook but rather "lecture" notes, doesn't respond to e-mails, disorganized calendar; read notes before tests, use "search" function when taking tests, pay close attention to deadlines. Overall not recommended.

I took Miller's online history class. It was fairly simple just a lot of quizzes, tests, and other smaller assignments. As a tip for the tests, read everything he gives you before the test and you will get a very strong B or A. He never answered any of my emails though.
