Really simple class, just read the assigned readings (which are usually pretty interesting anyway) and participate in the class discussion

Amiable disposition & knows his stuff. Must complete readings before each class because most of your grade depends on your discussion participation. Takes attendance every day. Two "tests" are essay questions.

I took a freshman honors seminar with him. The class was not a subject that interested me, but his passion for the subject made it bearable. I don't want to ever take a history class again, but if I had to, I would take it with him.

Miller's class is basically him getting up and talking for an hour and you taking notes. If you miss a class, you're in trouble for the test. Tests are part essay and you don't exactly know the question ahead of time. That said, he's an interesting and informative teacher. Just know what you're getting into.

Great guy, passionate about history and if you are too, you'll love the lectures. No study guides or powerpoints though. Come to class, take notes, read a lot from 2 books, and hope you remember everything for the test. Still, I'd take one of his classes again if asked.

Very passionate about History, definitely knows what he's talking about. He can be hard to follow at times since his lecture is entirely based on him talking without a prepared slideshow. Be ready to take plenty of notes (I recommend recording if you can't process information on the fly).

Great teacher! He is very passionate about what he does, which makes lectures very interesting! You need to be quick at taking notes and follow closely to what he is saying. You have to read about 10 essays just for one on the test but I mean your in college so its expected

He is a really good professor! Attendance is mandatory and if you don't come, you miss a lot of material on the test. There is no text book too so take good notes You read 3 books 2 are pretty interesting! he likes to make cheesy jokes but it makes the lectures more tolerable. Very passionate about his subject

Dr. Miller is an amazing lecturer who is VERY passionate about his subject. The class itself is challenging, but proved to be my favorite. You WILL take alot of notes (An entire 1 subject notebook, in my case). Attendance is mandatory: miss more than 3 days, letter dropped! Tests are somewhat easy, mostly essay, but lots of information at once!!

It was ok for history. Forget notes buy a tape recorder or you will miss something. test suxx. have to read 10 essays for 1 question on each test. 2 essays and 6 identification items each test. lots of material for few questions. make sure you have a broad knowledge of the crap he focuses on in lecture.

Don't take this class if you do not like to take notes. Has a basic outline that you can get off his website but it is VERY basic. He will go into detail about everything and he talks a lot that it is hard to keep up with him while writing. He gives 3 essay tests which he does pick the harder terms and questions to put on them.

Don't take him unless you enjoy taking notes at 500mph and then taking an all essay test over a month of lectures....without a study guide or any hint of what's going to be on it. He's a nice guy but the class was hard.

Class is challenging, you HAVE to show up, you will miss a large amount of notes/information if you miss days. Class was interesting though, Miller could be pretty funny at times to, but also sometimes drag on for a while, i recommend taking it later than 10 a.m. as i did if you're a late sleeper, overall, easy-ish tests. Can easily pass.

Dr. Miller is a very good teacher. Makes history very interesting and can be funny at times. 2 things I did not like. First of all the book he requires you have to go to amazon.com. Secondly, he does not use blackboard. You can only access his syllabus from MSU computers. Kind of a pain for those of us who commute.

Very good professor. Very knowledgeable and makes the subject interesting. Pretty cool guy. The only grades in the class are the 3 exams. But they are the same format every time. As long as you take good notes (given by powerpoint, I print off the outline and use that as my study guide) and read the "Taking Sides" book, you will ace the tests.

Dr. Miller is very knowledgeable. He is very precise in what he wants from his exams. The exams will seem somewhat intimidating, but if you attend class, study your notes, read the book, you'll do just fine! Never really been interested in history until this class!

This teacher is very knowledgable in his subject. Sometimes it is hard to follow along with what he says because he speaks very fast. Not too hard of a class.Only take this class if you plan on never skipping a class. Drops your grade a letter grade if you have more than two unexcused absences.

Miller is a GREAT teacher! You can tell that he is genuinely interested in what he teaches, he gives his notes on outlines, and as long as you know them you'll do fine on the tests. He cares about his students and keeps everyone interested in class. Attendence is mandatory tho, but it's not fun. Overall a fun, interesting class. Great teacher!

Mr. Miller is a good teacher and is genuinely interested in history. The class is not hard at all, but make sure you study the notes and read the book with the arguments in it. You only have tests for grades, and attendance is mandatory. =/
