Professor Barone was great. I took her Intro to Anthropology class as a social science elective, and it was interesting and fun. You MUST show up to class, but there's lots of points given based on clicker attendance/in-class questions. I would take her class again. It's easy if you listen, grades are either projects or Canvas quizzes and NO FINAL.

She's a tough professor, but a very friendly person, and the class is more than worth it if you're passionate about the material. Discussion participation is MANDATORY, though--steel yourself if you have social anxiety. Lots of reading, but from a variety of sources, so you're bound to be interested in some of it.

This was one of the hardest classes I have taken in college so far, it was also one of the best. Dr. Barone has high expectations for her students but she wants to see us all succeed not just at UNO but on the outside as well. Her online lectures are awesome. If you love reading research & analyzing you will enjoy the class and discussions a lot.

I really enjoyed this professor because she is entertaining but if you are looking for an easy A this is not that class at all. She is a very good professor with a ton of knowledge and makes lectures entertaining, but she makes you work for your grade.

She gives a lot of readings and quizzes over the readings. Her tests are hard to understand. Participation matters in her class. Lectures are heavy.

She is a great teacher and is very hilarious but also one of the most caring professors I had. Went to her office hours for a discussion and she is compassionate. The course is hard but she is an understanding professor, would definitely take another course of hers.

I would never take a class w/ her again. She gives a lot of busy reading assignments and discussions posts require u 2 ask a question 2 the class w/ hopes for answers. Assignments: you grade yourself but the grade u get is what she thinks u deserve. When answering questions on exams, if it's not what she wants, u will get graded harshly. EC offered

I took this class for Honors in fall 2018. Dr. Barone is hilarious, but you have to put in the time and energy to pass her class. Still worth it - you'll learn so much and you won't regret it.

Seemed to me that her goal in this class was to trick you on tests and fail you. Test averages were always low and she considered them to be "good". READ CAREFULLY on her tests. Wouldn't recommend anyone to take her for this class.

Take a different professor. Don't understand a ?/what she is asking for in the books she requires u to read & email her about it, she will not explain anything & just repeat the question. After multiple emails, all u can do at that point is do ur best. If its wrong, she will bash u on the public discussion post, saw this will multiple others.

she's funny and kind of intimidating. She's accessible outside class. One paper over a book you have to read. she's a tough grader especially on the paper. I personally didn't like her but she knows what she is talking about. I loved the content of the class but not the professor unfortunately there wasn't another option.

She's a tough grader. Attend lectures. I did not read the textbook as much as I should have. The book is useful for the labs and eventual paper. She does do a medium sized paper at the end of the course. I think around 8-12 pages. You will NEED to read the living in color book for sure. She knows her stuff and semi-intimidating.

She doesn't scale the test scores even if the best grade is like a 79. Your participation and attendance points make a huge difference in your grade. Her lectures aren't boring but it's usually common sense material. She doesn't make clear AT ALL what will be on the tests and has trick questions on the tests.

Barone is a great instructor. Attendance is highly suggested, it's not 100% mandatory, but heavily advised. As long as you do the homework and pay attention in class, it goes pretty smooth. She does go through the PowerPoint slides a little fast, so prep for fast note taking. She does incorporate some humor as well, modest, but good humor.

Barone is knowledgable and cares about her subject but she's overcompensating. She knows its an intro class most people don't care about so she tries to drown you in busywork to keep you engaged but it just makes the class super tedious. Uses clickers for attendance and participation, the rest of your grade are tests. Extra credit was offered

Attendance not mandatory, but expect a lower grade (participation points, uses clickers). Very interesting, lively, funny. She does expect oral participation (book discussion), this is to YOUR BENEFIT, quizzes over this discussion, questions posted on blackboard.

Go to lectures she writes things on the white board that will be on the test. Also during some lectures she says what the extra credit question will be over on the test. Take advantage of those! If you have any questions immediately email her, she will help you. You really have to do the homework, some of those questions will be on the test.
