Comment:

Great Class! Dr. Reeder was clear on what we should know to do well. He was very approachable for any questions during lab & office hours. Take advantage of ALL the lab times you can attend to know the slight difs between species/subspecies. He doesn't trick you...but its not blue snake vs.red snake easy. Take digital pics in lab for home studying.

Comment:

Don't buy the book, it was never used. The herpetology lecture part was easy. The herpetology lab section on the other hand was difficult and required a lot of work. The format of the lab practicals were similar to the ones for BIO 204L. The specimens were hard to identify on the tests because there bodies are so old, shriveled, and colorless...

Taught the population genetics section. Book's not necessary but a little skimming before or after lecture should help. Kind of a boring lecturer but that could just be me. Quizzes & exam were ok but definitely know how to use equations. Also, try to get a hold of past quizzes/exams bc they're very similar.

Comment:

Dr. Reeder taught the last section of the class and his section was by far the easiest of the class. His lectures are easy to listen to and his quizzes are a lot like the practice quizzes that are posted. Just make sure to go to class and take good notes.

This was a hard class. You have to study the different specimens alot before the tests. Take pics of the bodies, make a study guide, write down everything you can to help you remember certain features to recognize the species. Lectures way too much but is a really nice guy. Dont buy the book, you never use it. Lecture tests arent too hard.

DO NOT BUY THE BOOK, he doesn't use it. This class is all about lecture. Show up every day, or you're screwed. Print out lecture outlines before class. Pay attention to what he says, rather than just the power point. Questions will come from things that are not in the PP. 4 exams, quizzes and i-quizzes. 2 take-home, short answer essays. Easy A.

Poor guy has got to have of the MOST monotone voices which does not help when it's a 9am class. DO NOT EVER MISS CLASS! All material for tests comes straight from lecture so if you miss your screwed. I missed 2 classes and when it was time for the next test 1/4 of the test was on what was covered those 2 days! It REALLY hurt my grade!

This guy can pretty much answer any bio question u can throw at him. He may go off into a tangeant when answering, but it's cool. Show's how much his into bio. I used the strat for him as i did the previos sections. Study from the study guides and read over lectures at least once. booya

Tod is amazing. He's super helpful, very available, and approachable, really laid back. Field trips are so much fun. Was never really interested in herps before I, fortunately, got stuck in this class (mammology was full). My favorite professor at State.

Most boring of the 3 teachers...really hard to stay awake and concentrate. Tests are really specific details. Lots of extra info thats not on the slides so go to class.
