I saw a crazy range of videos, most of which were stranger than I could ever imagined. I didn't like most of the video's shown, but If you keep in mind that overall a video can suck but still make use of a strong concept/idea this class will be far more inspirational than any other class. Also the workload is very light, just show up & talk a lil.

If you followed the lectures closely and took notes you would see that they have subtle but interesting points. Readings and videos are excellent (and he does test on the readings). Is nicer than he has to be about late assignments. He makes you do work but if you actually do it you will learn more from this class than many others put together.

Agree with the other negative posts on this guy. He won't like you unless you do something out of wack. He has no teaching skills, his attempts at humor are failures, except to the kiss-asses, and I learned absolutely nothing. And to think I actually had an interest in video -- before I had to take a class with this old past-his-prime clown.

Actually ,you get to have a class with a true minor celebrity. He was good friends with members of Andy Warhol's Factory and is a pioneer in early minimalist music. He actually ia able to teach theory so that even the most unfamiliar can understand it and he has a sense of humor. This is a big plus!

Shows abstract videos that actually make you THINK. Assigned readings were interesting, not at all pretentious, and easy to understand. Very lenient on late assignments. Scares, confuses, and frustrates all the closed-minded students who aspire to be corporate media robots.

Absolutely awful, played with piezio mics and tape recorders for half the semester and studied the physics of sound. We spent 1 week out of the semester working on sound design, by then it was a waste of time. Grad advisor with no useful advice or concern. Needs new job elsewhere.

This guy has no idea how to teach. The only thing we ever did was watch whacked out videos that made no sense whatsoever and then listen to him rant on about nothing for two hours. Oh, and he hates anything you do if its not weird and abstract and meaningless.

I don't know how he graduate from elementry school cause his handwriting is so bad. Must get a recorder for his class, But has a lot of energy. I never fell asleep in his class.

Taught me why not to do drugs. 2 hour classes are very boring, and difficult to follow unless youre into video art. Easy A if you go to class and do work. Easy B if you don't
